PPF or naked?

Get a sheet from Amazon or elsewhere, precut it yourself by using masking tape for templates. Some patience, spray bottle and a high quality set of silicone/non scratch squeegee. Will only cost you a fraction of what they charges you at the pro shop. Cheap enough that you can redo it every year if you wish?
Did this on my daily for the first time and it up well over the summer so far.

I will do this on my future C8 myself.

It depends on where you live , mileage you put on and how long you plan to keep it. I had it done , for 2000$ on the whole front end, including bumper, lights, front fenders, mirrors, windshield frame, and rocker panels. This is my dream car , so I plan on keeping it for a long time and I live in Quebec, where the roads are badly swept, by lazy people, who do not bother to do both sides, on some highways!!!
I contest! The ppl who sweep the road are not lazy. I have seen them with their water spraying truck cleaning the sidewalk while RAINING so many times! ;)

Anyways, I would not skip on PPF. Ceramic coat is skippable and you can do DYI ceramic spray.
 
The shop that will do mine has super good reputation and when I met him he was very professionnal. I feel safe to leave my car there and get good results.
Put it in teen driver mode . Or “ valet “ mode .
To activate Valet Mode on a C8 Corvette, follow these steps:
1. Access Settings: Start your vehicle and go to the infotainment system.
2. Select Vehicle: Navigate to the “Settings” menu, then select “Vehicle.”
3. Choose Valet Mode: Scroll to the bottom and tap on “Valet Mode.”
4. Enter PIN: You will be prompted to enter a four-digit PIN. You can set a new PIN each time if desired.
5. Lock Vehicle: After confirming the PIN, the vehicle will lock the glove box and center console, enabling recording through the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) if activated.

The masking tape is to simulate your ppf size/shape of your ppf. Use the tape for the outer lines/shape mainly and over somesort of paper for the center so that you don't have to use all masking tape if you wish. Marked the lines then cut and trace it on your ppf. I may try some spray wax to ease of removing the tape off your car next time to see how that works. I am a novice and try to find the best way to donthe job.
Now that those guy exist, I would buy the precut kit with proper spray the pro use? I am sure their quality is better then the 3M on Amazon.
I like working on and tinkering with my car.
Here is my first attempt with ppf on my Kia with the Amzon stuff. It is presentable with no bubbles or blemishes? I am not going to say that I am as good as a pro and I will not be.
You can cut your own sheets in areas that you are concern with paint chip. Wheel well/fender area or your splitter etc..

The problems are trucks…. They will spray rocks at you even if you stay a reasonable distance away. They will even shoot rocks sideways as you pass them….IMO ppf is essential if you do lots of highway driving.
I have 28,000 kms on my 22 C8 , I challenge anyone to find a single blemish on the front end of my car. I do lots of highway driving (50%) and I do not tailgate at all. If I see a rock sprayer transport I stay back, or pass them when safely able swiftly.

So my personal opinion is, waste of money. Or at least the ridiculous prices people are charging for it is madness.

If you saw the front end of my Camaro with 200,000 KMS on it you'd ask me why I didn't have PPF. ShiRt happens. Can't be avoided. Insurance is always a waste of money until you need it.

That's is the why I do my own if I can.
Not to say others are wrong to have it done from a shop.
 
This question goes out to all those who did NOT get PPF installed. What does your front bumper and hood look like? Installers and ppf installers gasp when you ask for just the bumper or just a full ceramic coat. :)
My car, my choice, but what is the real experience, that's what I would like to hear.
My 2022 C8 Z51 HTC has been ceramic coated using the Adams product. He came to my house and did the entire car for $600.00. Every winter I apply their ceramic booster. I have had my car now for three years - not a mark on it. As well, easy to clean.

We use to do that to our Summer Students car on their last day of work until the Snowflake Generation showed up and complained my colleagues were being mean to them. I ran into one of them a couple of years ago. He said he was so traumatized he had to move back in with his mommy and has to sleep with a night light...
 
So not quite an answer to your question, but:

I got PPF only on the front fascia. Not the hood, fenders, mirrors or A pillars. I have several divots out of the PPF that I'm sure would be chips in the paint without the PPF. One above the grill hear a headlight, and several under the grill, just above the splitter. Oddly, all on the driver's side. I also have 2 small chips in the hood. Were I to start over, I probably would get the hood as well as the fascia. I don't have any chips on the mirrors or A-Pillars. Oh, the chips in the PPF are much less noticeable, to me, than the smaller chips in the hood.

I think how valuable it is depends a lot on where you drive, and how much you drive. I have almost 28000 miles (~45,000 km) in 3 1/2 years, and a lot of high speed highway driving. That many miles certainly increases the opportunities for impacts, and highway speeds probably make the impacts worse. If you're a low mileage owner, never or rarely drive on highways, and aren't likely to be on dirty roads following trucks, then the risk is probably much lower.

I hope he doesn't get his shi t together, buy a Corvette and joins the site. Probably tell everyone I'm a bad man and hurt my feelings...😭
 
Just got a quote from a shop in the Kingston area. Full front ppf with windshield pillars,mirrors , and blacked out panels $3,200 plus tax. Didn’t think it was too bad. Mustangs have come in at 5000 per car.
