Some progress in the last week. Hole dug, footings in, walls formed and poured today. I have roughed in the drive a little further and a parking area along the back of the shop as well.
14 truck loads of concrete between 4:00 & 6:30 pm.

As a car guy, I don't have to say how thrilled I was to follow your garage/shop build.

As the junior who helped to execute on others' plans to build a couple of houses and renovate several others and now even my own, I am very much looking forward to your progress on this build!

Wow! That is a good load of concrete! This is great to follow along with. If I ever build my own house and shop, I'll be able to follow these threads to see what steps are next! :D

Walls are poured just waiting for a good cure then backfill will start. Lumber coming Wed. and trusses Thursday. I ordered trusses weeks ago so they are early rather then having to wait for them, about 8 weeks.
Walls are 10''X9' with re-bar. I also went the extra and put 9' walls in the garage, front porch and back porch. I never liked stepping walls up as cracks will appear down the road.
Also I will be filling the garage and both patios completely with stone so that when we pour those floors there will be no settling down the road. Another small boat load of stone for sure.
The cistern under half the garage is 9000gal. I am also putting a 5000gal precast at the shop so that will give me 14000 of water.
I may also be digging a large pond if things all workout.

Overkill Bill is what I am called generally. I don't build homes but have been involved with many in one way or another. Most homes today are all built to very minimal specs and generally all have issues in 5 to 10 years.
I've been adding quite a few details to the shop so I will post some more photos of that soon.

Plenty accomplished in the last little while. Photos tomorrow.

Here's a few interior shop photos.

Thanks guys, I will have to get some photos of the cars in the shop.
I can't sit down, always have to be tinkering with something. If I run out of stuff to do I go to someone else's house and help them tinker. lol

Sub- floor finished with 2x10 on 12'' centres, with 3/4'' plywood, glued and screwed. Exterior walls up and patio's and garage backfilled with 420 ton of screening's compacted every 20 inches or so. These holes were 9' deep and this method will eliminate any possible cracking of foundation, patio's and floors.
Beaver puke was not nessesary but I put it on anyway. Foam board over that then stone and brick. Trusses arrived yesterday and all windows and exterior doors are made ready to install.

Today we built all the interior walls but have no photos for that just yet.
Put a trailer on site just in case I get a chance for a nap.
