Thanks for the Birthday wishes everyone! Spent the weekend cleaning then painting the garage. Walls and ceiling. See what happens when the wife leaves me alone for the weekend! Kinda stupid as I didn't the the vette out much but damn are my new posters and Welderup pic from the shop going to look good on the walls!

Boy is this trip growing! Great to see and looking to great memories for sure! Thinking supper will be for everyone to figure out themselves and Brian and I will confimr the gazebo firepit. Starting a BRING LIST so if you think of something we should being post it. Thinking for now everyone should be bringing:

Camera
Lawn chair if you want
Water for stops
Sweater or coat.
overnight bag if staying in Lake Louise. (Jeffer you have to shower!)
Swim trunks. (for the tubs and pool, not Lake Louise. That would cause shrinkitis!)
refreshments for Saturday.

Maybe that is for the better... maybe half and half will try the two eating places in the hotel. Better as some might want to hang in the room to relax and hard to get everyone to show up at one time anyhow. If people are in the basement lounge as more come down they can sit and join the group.... and same for the other place.

If someone wants to splurge for dinner at Chateau Lake Louise they can.

What else to bring.

Sunscreen or bug spray
Bear Spray ( will bring mine ) though not doing much hiking where it is allowed to carry... Well, you have to drive to get to the place to hike.
snacks/protein bars

I will keep thinking.

Bear Spray? I realize Eric is old and can be a bit crotchety but bear spray? Geez, man, isn't that overdoing it... a bit. :smileshake:

maybe..... but I have ran into a bear mountain biking 20-25 years ago in Jasper on some trails.... only had a bear bell. Yelled at my buddy BEAR... and the bear ran off....... :)

last year I crashed my drone in the mountains and wasn't going searching for it without BS. it will probably just stay in the back of the car.....

one person in about 10 years gets killed by a bear.... seems like. never know.

OH, anyone can add stuff to bring.. I always seem to forget 1-2 things when I go on trips..... good to hear what people are bringing.

As far as I know,Drones aren't allowed in National or Provincial parks Brian. There's a big sign on the side of Hwy 40 ( recently installed )and from info I got from a Yogi, fines can be substantial and seizure of the Drone needless to say. Who knows though... maybe an exception could be made with good people at Parks Canada. That's something I'd be interested in asking them.

I actually wasn't in the National Park when I crashed..... I was in a proper flying area and away from helipads. A big 50-80 km hr wind came up while I was flying and could not control it ... sucked.. rebuilt after $200-300 in damages.

I monitor all the rules...... don't like them but try obey.

3 years ago there were so many less rules... the National Park one started last summer. Also don't fly near busy roadways... and so on. :(

I told a yogi buddy of mine that the only real reason I can come up with for a parks ban is,that they're worried about people making better tourism type vids than they can make to promote the place !! ( big brother saying you can't do that because we didn't think of it first ) I guess it's one of those things. Fly it,just don't get caught. It would be nice if you could fly it.

A good pair of Running Shoes works in lieu of Bear Spray ...
... all you have to do is run faster than the other guy ... ;)

(sorry old joke ... used over and over ... cause it's awesome)

Bear spray just makes them mad.... Lead based spray works better .... Oops.... Can't use lead in the parks either....

I won't fly in the Parks if they have the rules now ( started promoting the rules last summer ) ...... if a drone ( UAV ) crashes and a battery catches on fire that could be bad...

they have a few reasons.....

Flying sucks now with TC proposed rules... hope they rethink them a bit.

Yes, stay away from airports. helipads should be 2km away not 8km as a helicopter can go straight up and be in his own airspace easily.
