You're weclome Brent, and Brian is the best sidekick a guy can have but doesnt do dishes! So with summer comes construction season and as such we have construction on our new roundabout in Red Deer.
Directions to enter the McDonalds Meeting point from Highway 2
  • Take Hwy 11/67th Street exit off Hwy. 2
  • You will be coming east and approaching roundabout construction. NOFEAR, the roads are concrete and they are working on side lanes so just lots of barricades and pylons out.
  • enter roundabout and take second exit. (go striaght through in a curving fashion ;))
  • Stay in far left lane and at lights turn left.
  • then turn left into commercial area and McDonalds will be on your left.

Just got an update from Brian and Jeff as they are in Golden. Scared the hell out of me. Gave me the gloom and doom, winter tires needed, snow still on road, etc. Had me scrambling for alternate plans then Brian called.

All is good. There's a marathon being run from jasper to Banff next weekend so you never know we might be on tv! Haha. Saskatchewan will work to have a spot to park for lunch too! I'll leave the rest of the update to Brian and Jeff but it's shaping up to be a great weekend!

Any Edmonton area people wanting to meet and cruise together to our meet in Red Deer. I'm thinking of meeting in Nisku at McDonald's 301 20 Ave, Nisku, AB T9E 7Z8 near Blackjacks Roadhouse. Meet and leave at 7:30am Sharp. I hope this works for all. Unless someone has another location to Start from. Feel free to share and we could meet there instead. You input is appreciated.

Rolling car shots by my wife Heather

Granting a child in Northern Alberta a Wish ($10 K/wish) has been near and dear to our hearts for the last few years. As we start the 2017 Car Cruise and Show 'n Shine season I have this proposal to ALL of you in this group. Some of you know we often accidentally take fantastic photos of your rides. For a minimum $20 donation (GENEROSITY is ENCOURAGED) which can be given to Ken Turner or Heather Ng at any of the events we attend. Turner Photography is willing to Dropbox, iCloud, or USB (provide by you) copies of your 'rides'. The number of images will depend on how often you come out to the events. More events you attend, the more photos of your ride. A minimum $20 donation for an entire season of images = A priceless wish for a Child. Talk about a DEAL! The sooner you donate, the sooner you'll start receiving your images. Please join on Facebook under Edmonton Let's Cruise for more cruising and photo opportunities.

If you are traveling with us from Edmonton to Red Deer my wife is willing to do rolling shots of your cars if you wish. All we ask is that you keep up the speed limit or 10km/hr over in the RIGHT lane. We will adjust to the speed to get your shot. Usually we do a front angle followed by a side shot and finally a back angle shot (sometimes). Please roll down your window so we can see you smile or thumbs up or peace sign. If any more time to shoot during the cruise. We'll go back up the line one by one to shoot it again. On second pass you can roll up your window if you choose too. I will not hold up any traffic trying to pass us on LEFT lane, therefore, please let me into the right lane when this happens.

FOR the NON-Edmonton people. We can do a quick rolling shoot From Red Deer to Rocky Mountain. BUT we only have about 11-17 Kms to do this on Divided highway right away after we leave Red Deer. So please cooperate with us to get your shots. After the Divided highway if not too busy, we may do some as well, IF safety permits.
PLUS Heather or I will take group pictures and or solo pictures during the whole trip.

IF you are interested in this offer, please see either myself or Heather. We will need your email address IF you choose Dropbox or iCloud. If you like the USB route, please bring us min. 16G USB.

ALL we are asking is a MINIMUM $20 donation which Heather or I will collect during the Cruise and donate to Make A Wish Northern Alberta at our "4th Annual Wheels for Wishes Show & Shine" Saturday, September 9th, 2017 held at Century Casino St. Albert (old Apex Casino). Facebook group: Wheels for Wishes 2017 Thank you in advance for your generous donation in helping us grant our 3rd Wish. See you on the road!

Our Wish is to "Make a Wish" ... SN-III is IN !

OK, here was the text Jeff and I put together to send to Paul ( we were laughing as we pressed send )

Ok update / the park gate has burned to the ground / the sask crossing pub does not open during the day till Mid June / now there is a marathon running event on the highway on Saturday June 3rd between Banff and Jasper and there is still snow where that avalanche went across the road / gas is $1.75 for 91 at sask crossing

1. The park gate did burn to the ground last fall
2. Sask Crossing pub doesn't open during the day till mid June but they are opening special just for us I was told by the manager
3. YES, there is a running marathon that day Banff Jasper Relay .... NOW, both driving lanes will be open....... the runners seem to be running from Banff to Jasper so we will be heading the other way on the other side of the road...
Race Info

Start Times and Locations
The Banff Jasper Relay is run in two phases, each with their own independent starting locations. The race route has been split this way to ensure the whole course can be run in daylight hours.
Starting PointsThe Southern Phase starts at Castle Junction at 7:00 am.
The Northern phase starts at Saskatchewan River Crossing at 7:00 am.

4. Now that controlled avalanche that happened..... the snow is still on the highway... well tons on the the sides still ( 15-30 feet high ) ..... but don't need snow tires on your Corvette to get through it.
5. 91 octane is about $1.70 as Sask crossing..... just mentioning that there is some there

I would have loved to see the look on Pauls face when he read what we texted him... LOL !!!

Now, Husky has 94 octane in Lake Louise. - called to confirm

OH, there is a Petro Can too..... s**t we never checked if it had 94......... but the Husky does.

OK, Jeff and I did the day trip... frick it was a long day... we had fun.

I just sent Paul and email with ideas....... maybe Paul and myself will talk tomorrow night and discuss.

Things to mention.

I was given 15 park passes...... ( for free, asked for them ) I will hand them out in Rocky Mountain House to people needing them - the lady remember us.
Now, they ( Banff Park people ) have a tent set up in front of Sask Crossing general store if we need more passes. They are also set up in Lake Louise - 10x10 parks canada tents

Ok, I talked to the guy Paul has been planning stuff with.

he says if has a parking area for us.
he said the Gazebo will have a $15.00 / person BBQ buffet in the Gazebo.... and booze will be served. I forgot to ask ont he firepit but guessing it will be going...... BBQ is 6-9pm.

the downstairs bar WILL BE showing the Stanley Cup hockey game ( 6pm start I think ) ... and children are allowed till 9pm.

Now, I told Paul more idea's but will wait to see which ones he wants to do.

now, Sunday am..... Morraine Lake parking lot could fill up by 10 am or a bit earlier...... We would like you to try be ready to leave for 9am... it is a 14 km drive and about 2 bigger bumps in the road ( will be fine - just saying that so you slow down for the 5-7 bump sign areas ) but a nice paved road. Best to get there early to get parking together for the cars.
2 years ago was the first time I seen Morraine Lake ... it is wow and more wow.

I told Paul 2 different ideas for photo shoots there... more to come on that.

The lakes.

My thinking ( and Jeffs too )

Abraham Lake has no ice or snow ( not our thinking..... just no snow there )
Jeff and I think Bow lake will be melted by this weekend ( still ice when we were there )
lake Louise might still have ice on it...
Jeff and myself think Morriane Lake might have no ice by this Sunday.... hoping.

The ice sheets seemed slim for Bow and Morriane.

Most of the ideas I gave Paul will be discussed and mentioned here or in Rocky Mountain House or during the cruise.

10% chance or rain sat....... meaning says sunny!

it will be fun!

I phoned both Lake Louise Husky and Petro Canada. They both sell premium fuel (91 at one and 94 at Husky - I think).
Today Husky is 1.31 per litre and Petro Can is 1.28 per litre. I asked them both to make sure they do not stretch their
premium delivery for the weekend (which they normally don't on regular - I restated premium!).
They are both looking forward to seeing "us" ... (cha-ching!)
Ok we are all "babied-up" quite a bit for the road ... this weekend can't come soon enough ...
this is a long work-week for me and my wife - full of "fires" to fight :Rage:

Now, if you decide you want to overnight check the hotel or call them. Sometimes you don't see room on the booking sites as they get allotted certain amount of rooms but cancellations happen and you never know.

Tell them your with the Corvette group.

I paid $1.45 for Chevron 94 in Golden on Sunday... :( 130 ltrs worth...

I like the Techron cleaner ( it and BG fuel products are the only great products on the market ) and no ethanol too in Chevron 94 There is ethanol in Petro and Husky 94 --- OK to use. but don't winter store your car with it in the tank. Use Shell 91

I've always run the Husky 94 since I've had my car. I've never used the Shell Vpower 91 nor the Petro Canada ultra 94.

On a brief derail, what's the big deal with the fuel stuff ... all I am told is "premium" and I stopped fueling at Shell ever since they screwed up my gas gauge a few years ago in the "bad gas" ordeal :Rage: ... I kept from Petro Can because of the "dry pumps" ordeal. So it's CO-OP for me whenever I can ... but on the road and away from the CO-OP .... I am now kinda wondering ??? Thx ...

Don`t want to offtrack the thread too much... but to me I try use newer built gas stations. ( cleaner tanks )

I used to use this older shell station for my Mustang and had tons of dirt build up in the gas tank... my buddy had a low mileage one that I swapped too.

Brian

OH everyone...... make sure you check your air pressure in your tires..... don`t want an unevenly worn tire from a low or a high tire.

Also, check the air in your spare tire...... and if you don`t have a spare tire look at my tire repair products ;) I plugged myself ( pun intended )

I won`t be bringing any with me unless you are wanting items.

Check out my 2 order pages. Awesome products..... the micro pumps are so small. I used them to add air in my tires before Ponoka

AND I am not working Friday..... so if you want items tell me by Thursday 4pm
