Thanks for the input. I have decided to add the lift as we do have a farm up in ERIN that has a steep driveway. Don’t want to damage the front end. I have an order number in the dealer workbench sheet. No status yet. Dealer confirmed a May delivery ETA. There first 6 cars are coming in late Feb. I am in the second 6 allocation for them.
One stat that always stuck with me about distracted driving was how you can travel a football field when you look down at your phone on the highway. This system is supposedly able to react in a few seconds and I am still out on if this is going to be able to react in enough time to make a difference. I guess the rebuttal to this is that you will have had to geo-tag these hazards in your database and therefore slow down knowing that they exist. I think that grocery store strip malls are still going to be the silent killer for a lot of peoples vettes as most people are so focused on watching for pedestrians that they forget to go on an angle when they hit a lazy policeman. I have it on my order so that i can hopefully be the guinea pig for a lot of you folks.
The front lift will only work if your speed is below 40 kmph. In addition, the auto-lift will only work once you have already manually lifted at one point. After you manually lift the front end, it will ask if you want to have the location saved to have the vehicle automatically lift the front end again every time you drive through that spot.
Once saved, you still need to slow down to have the front end lift activate.

It will be interesting to see how many people remember this extra step when driving. I am interested to see if people will actually will take their hands off wheel and press that tiny button up by the dash every time

.... as many may well know ... C8 Owner Habits will definitely start with the ability of the GM Sales Rep's
knowledge to advise on particular aspects of the Corvette C8 and relay it during the vehicle delivery.
Then the Owner should spend a few hours on the first weekend to thoroughly go over the knobs and buttons.
The info screen can be a two hour job to learn on its own - many do not even bother to learn half of what's on there.
Then off to Spring Mountain for the Drivers School ... as one has to do a few set-ups every time you enter a car there.
The initial habits should then be seeded for other habits to develop from there.

How many Canadian Corvette sales specialists have been to the dealer training held at Spring Mountain or is that training just for service technicians?
I am planning on going down in april. My friend Darci who works there has told me only americans are there right now. No idea about service techs
I already have a contract and my car spec'd out at over $110,000.00 Not sure if they can pull a fast one after the order was entered and I have the receipt. my rep said they would be making just under 20K profit already. My rep is a friend of mine so he probably shouldn't have told me that. So they are already making a profit. If dealers start gouging then its time to fight back.
Well said. That's one big reason why I chose to become active on this forum: The lack of knowledge and education is chronic.
I feel bad for customers when they purchase a Corvette from someone who doesn't know the difference between a Stingray and Grand Sport. At the very least, I ensure my customers drive away with knowledge of the break-in procedure of their new Corvette. I think my longest delivery took 2 hours as the customer wanted to know every little detail before he drove off.
the margin is not that big...
It probably gets bigger with the more options you add on I would suspect.
The margins are a percentage, usually floating around the 7-8% region, so yes, the more expensive a vehicle gets, the greater the margin. At the same time, the more expensive a vehicle gets, the more the dealership is expected to make. A dealership won't make $800 on a $25,000 Cruze and then make $800 on a $100,000 Corvette.

I had an awesome Sales Rep who had me confidently on my way after a couple of hours. I picked it up and drove 300km right away to home (variable speed and no cruise control for first 500-1000km).
Went over the entire car on the first weekend to learn and not just admire (although that goes with out saying). Then my Wife did the same. Why not, she's always telling me how to drive anyways.
The only drawback that I did not anticipate was that once she checked and familiarized herself with the Brand New Corvette, she said "I want one" ... so nobody needs to ask why I have two.
She drove her Corvette more than I drove mine last Summer. I did not anticipate that as well.

When it come to dealership margins, no reasonable consumer wants a great dealership to go out of business. It really should not be a factor.
If one nets out to pay as low as MSRP (including taxes & everything), you should be happy. Although it may take GM incentives to do it on certain vehicles sometimes.
Otherwise get a Scotia GM Visa and diligently use it to earn GM dollars.
I have redeemed over $12000 since getting the card. It costs me absolutely nothing, it has no limits and it knocks a good chunk off the vehicle purchase.
If financed, negotiate the lowest interest rate possible. I have three vehicles at 0% - and yes, I would have saved a bit more if I had a higher interest rate.
Strange how things work ... affordability matters but how much someone "saves" does not impress me the most when they are showing me their New Corvette.

I got one when i got my 16 Maro and used it for a year and had 3k to put down on my vette. good little chunk off of something that gets little help from incentives. I suspect that the C8 will have next to nothing for incentives for the 20MY maybe a lower rate or cash purchase allowance on 21MY.
More than likely, yes. I expect there to also be a leasing option.
