Absolutely- that’s why I left the word classic out. C1-7 are the American classic sports car and C8+ the American sports car.

Lol... Actually I considered briefly but when I had my first look and sat in one when they first hit the market here, I changed my mind. Major factor was we like to tour... two, three weeks plus at a time down into the mid western and southern states. Have a 12v cooler behind the seat with beverages, lunch meats, cheese etc. I do the driving, Brenda tosses together a sandwich when we don't want to pull over and are trying to make some mileage to the next little town. Bag of chips, her books to read when she gets bored... Can't do that with the C8. Everything has to go in the trunk/frunk and have to stop and get out to get what we want. Back in and drive and oops... forgot something.... Pull over again. That and my other passion in a sports car is a third pedal. I do like the looks of the car but there's lots that I like the looks of as well and they're not 'Corvettes' either...I don't fault anyone with wanting the exotic look at a bargain basement price though. Like I said, they look good and they have certainly helped GM leap into a whole new market.
Seriously though, the C7 has virtually nothing in common with the C1 other than they are both 2 seaters (as is the C8) and it's engine is in the front. The car has steadily improved as it aged and moving the engine to the back is just the next step in it's growth.

As soon , as GM , lets me, I will get a tuning put in , which will make it as fast as a Z06 in the quarter mile, which is what I care about. For a lot less than buying the Z. My upcoming C8 is my dream car and enough for me, until the tuning.
Agree. But honestly, no other generation had much of anything in common with the C1. The C3 had virtually nothing in common with the C2. The C4 was a radical change from the C3. and so on and so on. The C5 and the C6 probably had the most in common for back to back generations. Agree again that the C7 had almost nothing in common with the C6....All of these front engine and two seaters. And all offered a manual transmission which many mourn the demise of with the C8. But that's only a personal preference for many.It's OK to be jealous Rruuff. If I were jealous, there's nothing stopping me from owning a C8 other than the things I mentioned previously. And just for info, the C7 was not my first Corvette. Moving the engine was indeed a next step in growth but what drove that, and the radical body design, was to enter a completely different market than the previous generations represented. And that they did. Thousands that never even knew what a Corvette was, or stood for, rushed out to buy one based only on the urge to own a Lambo or McLaren, or other exotic but lacked the sufficient disposable income to do so. GM knew what they were doing. They took the road for an extended market and profits and kudos to them for recognizing that they could garner that market worldwide with the C8.
As I mentioned, I like the body style of the C8 but short of inheriting a warehouse and collecting cars just to collect (Jay Leno ish), I won't be purchasing one, and will continue to be extremely satisfied with mine. To all that own a C8, congats. Love it, drive it and save the wave. I will wave to you whether you recognize that I am driving a Corvette or not. It's all good.
Mine slides right up behind the divider. I can't reach it either but wifey drops the seat belt, spins around and she reaches it easy.... lol...Loved my 2019 Grand Sport convertible, but I couldn't reach the 12 volt cooler in the back.Cheers

The C8 definitely brought younger buyers to the dealerships.
Having owned my C8 for 2 1/2 years I thought I would have sold my ZC6 by now, but I can't bring myself to let it go.
They are 2 different driving experiences, the C8 is like sitting in an armchair and steering while the manual Z is a more challenging drive.
They both have adequate power, but there is just something exciting about hitting 2nd gear, feeling the tires bite
and watching the front end leap 12" in the air!
I enjoy driving the C8, but I love driving the C6, so much so I just updated the stereo complete with a backup camera to make
the drives more enjoyable.
If I had to decide between the two (a topic my wife has brought up more than a few times) I'm not sure what I would do.
Fortunately she talks into my bad ear!
I was joking when I said better. It's definitely different. "Better" is subjective when talking about cars.
Challenging hit the nail on the head Blu. Nothing like the power shift into second, the tires breaking loose, hitting redline, and manhandling a car that can't decide if it wants to take you into the trees or not. Lol. I have driven many front engine auto trannys with the hp under the hood and it's definitely not the same experience. Many an inexperienced driver has learned a hard lesson with hp and a clutch. Have never driven a mid or rear engine (other than a VW I owned back in the 70's), but the armchair analogy sounds spot on.

Good points all around here. I like the C8, and I'm on the long end of wait list for a Z06 so in no way a C8 hater. I passed on a Stingray allocation months ago because I'm not a fan of the looks, but the C8 fixes most of that and the engine and performance are on another level of course. I do wish GM were able to keep a front engine Corvette in its lineup--they look beautiful and the styling is timeless.. at least to my eyes. Ferrari has done this with the 812 as an example.
A Stingray is a C8. Do you mean that the Z06 fixes the looks that you’re not a fan of? They look very similar if you ask me. The Z06 is a bit wider, central exhaust, and a bit of change in the side door trim. Do those little things change it from “not a fan” to “fixes most of that”? You are definitely more discerning than I!

I wasn't a big fan of the C7 Stingray either--I prefer the wide body of the Z06/GS in that generation as well. It's the same for the C8 Stingray, where the Z06 is 3 inches wider than the Stingray, larger tires, wider rear end vents and aero, center exhaust, larger front splitter... I find the Z06 looks far more aggressive than the Stingray, and I don't consider the changes to be subtle.
The price point between a C7 Stingray and a C7 Z06 wasn’t a hundred grand though. I couldn't justify aftermarket performance work on a C7 Stingray because when I was done I could have had a C7 Z06 for the same or less money with similar performance. Not the case with the C8. The C8 Stingray aftermarket performance parts retailers and installers are going to be busy for a long time.

I got my allocation November 10th. With the Christmas shutdown , I should get my C8 by end of February. I will not be able to pick it up until mid March because of winter tire law and of course if the snow is not gone I will leave it in their showroom until the snow is gone.

I will be receiving my C8 HTC 2LT but had to order Z51 package or they would of gone to the next buyer. So I took a few options off but still paying 9000$ more than what I originally ordered.
