Can we please take the off-topic "Club" into it's own thread ... was not my intent of this thread ...

it's moved to "off-topic" ... thank you

Yes, I agree - It can be for BC people too...... Sask, na... those are Grasshopper Corvettes ;)

All cruises should go towards the mountains...... don't care to mile up my ZR1 driving by farmers fields.

A little variation is nice,I do agree but,my proximity to Banff/Kananaskis really has a grip on me. I do find it hard to go other directions.

I certainly hope some of you guys make some overnight trips here next year. I will have a spare room set up by next summer for a guest/guests and my door is always open. Whether it be overnight,or as a "drop in" on short or no notice. I'm good with either. The offer is there.

Hey Spence..
Happy CCF anniversary today...oct 10/2016

Graham
Thanks Graham. I wondered why today was going so strange for me ... I'm too bloody consistent hibernating on the same day two years in a row ...
I'm am gonna make sure that I don't do that again ... this day was a strange one for me.
Cheers! and Thanks, Spence

Wow, I am clearly behind in this thread...

There seems to be 2 lines of posts here

1) What should a group of vettes be called?
2) What should areas of Canada with vettes be called?

I for one really like a fever of corvettes, but maybe I am partial to the stingray!

As for the areas of Canada I am not sure they need distinction. What is wrong with Canadian Corvettes? We all seem to get along and traverse provincial borders anyway.

... on the use of Friends with "bene-vettes" ... here's what I found that may be found interesting ...

bene-
Latin word-forming element meaning "well," from Latin bene "well, in the right way, honorably, properly," from PIE *dw-ene-, adverbial form of root *deu- "to do, perform, show favor, revere." Cf. Latin bonus "good," bellus "handsome, fine, pretty," beatus "blessed."

The Corvette Club made the scenic drive to Wayne today under clear blue skies. Ideal motoring weather, lunch and a beverage....priceless.

So ... the above is posted on the Facebook Page of Last Chance Saloon and you can see that "we" "non-clubbers" are being referred to as "a club".
As Alberta Corvette Cruisers are getting out there, we might rather prefer this written like ... as an example ...

"The Alberta Corvette Cruisers (CCF) made the scenic drive to Wayne today under clear blue skies. Ideal motoring weather, lunch and a beverage....priceless."

People reading this (and maybe other Corvette owners too), might just think, who the heck is this ... Corvette Cruisers bunch? Maybe look us up n CCF?
As I really don't want "the Club" and potential politics, I have to face reality that I am being seen as a part of "a Club" and would maybe prefer having people see, read and write about us differently ...
although I know some people see a gang, is a gang and a club, is a club. I see it more positively toward CCF ... thoughts?

So whether Alberta Corvette Cruisers (CCF) or Rocky Mountain Corvette Cruisers (CCF) or East Coast Corvette Cruisers (CCF)
or Cottage Country Corvette Cruisers (CCF) or Niagara Corvette Cruisers (CCF) ...
or maybe collectively as the Canadian Corvette Cruisers (CCF) ...
I think you see the that we would hopefully not be divided ...
as I am grabbing on to the aspects of a "non-club" we are probably going to be seen as a "collective group"
but with "bene-vettes" and not the "politics" (hopefully).

time to give this a shot and grab this by the horn ...
So maybe we can wrap this up an all encompassing collective adoption of an "Alberta" name for our 403/780
cruisers that will embrace an entirety of the Rockies, Foothills, Prairie, Valleys and even the Petroleum (not referring to Oilers - lol).
Please know, above all, that this is not the beginning of "a Club", as it is somewhat already being seen by others that we already
have "that" (per Last Saloon post above). This is rather a name that we can agree to refer to ourselves as when we gather together
and/or cruise together and to go forward with together. Not everyone has to embrace this and please understand that it is intended
to be all about cruising together ... not really much more ...

?
Alberta Corvette Cruisers (CCF)
?

... how about it ? a wrap ??? Nay's? Yea's?
... I will officially abstain my vote as "resolver" (but not "creator")

A yea here Spence. Great job bringing this full circle and now we work on the logo. Trying to spend some time on it to see what I can come up with based on your and Ken's drawings. Needs to be clear so we can use it in a smaller format and then can be enlarged and colored for effect on something like T-Shirts for next years cruises!

Oh and Happy CCF Anniversary!

... here is my effort on that for you ... Sketch and inspirational photo profiles
with the logo idea to embrace everyone together (C-gens and CCF and Canada - with an added AB Rockies touch)

Since Corvettes were originally named after the fast warships of WW2, I vote for fleet.
on the correct path of nautical I agree, fleet, armada, patrol, company, quest, cavalcade ...

in motion the term "velocious" applies

Corvette = "a small fast frigate" ... "a pursuit ship" ... (Italian corvetta, Spanish corbeta)

Cheers!

Actually... I believe Corvettes of WW2 were not fast. Often they were no faster than some of the merchant ships they escorted and were slower on the surface than many of the later U-Boats. They were fairly inexpensive and easy to produce in an almost assembly line process. Armaments were almost exclusively equipped as "anti-submarine"... and that is why they existed.

Trump would then appear correct with "fake media"
appears the original Corvette wasn't that bad at all ... then probably outsourced with "Chinese parts" for WWII ... damn

The name Corvette was first used on ships in the 1670s by the French Navy. These small, light, and fast ships would often be used as escorts for larger ships. While they generally were under 100 feet long and only had one gun deck, their maneuverability and speed gave them a unique advantage against the larger ships. Literally a Corvette could run circles around larger ships and in the era of cannons fast moving targets were hard to hit. The British would keep Corvettes in their fleet during the colonial incursions into the rivers of the Far-East and Africa, at this point most Corvettes were steam powered.

It is interesting and somewhat serendipitous this thread came to this point at this time.

Here is a very good article on the Canadian Corvette.

Scrappy Little Corvettes | Legion Magazine

Since we are already off topic and it is always the right time to honor those who served. The history of the Canadians that used their creativity and how they innovated to survive and in many instances achieve victory is reason for all of us to take pause and consider... what if that was I....

Respect eternal.
