Thank you for your help Nascar03. I finally reinstalled the differential late last night. The previous post that you see my differential on a jack on October 1st 2016 is that I broke up with my girl. So I had to remove the differential and store it in the garage for the winter. So I finally came back to work on the car. So this month I will try to put my pace car back on the road.

Here is some updates

Hi Guys here is an update about the work I am doing on my car. 2 weeks ago I put some differential oil into my rebuilt differential and it started to leak at the seal so I had to remove the differential again and bring it back to the garage and I need to wait for them to fix it properly. So I am almost done with me sanding down the frame and I will show you some pictures of what it looks like. I removed the transmission crossmember also and it going to get powercoated.

I am still working on removing the rubberize undercoating under the car but I am still working at it.

I just read this thread and my hats off to you Sly. Very impressed with your determination to make the tough decisions to keep going deeper and do it right. The work you are putting into the repair that became a project is significant to say the least. Once I might have tackled this but I'm doubtful I would have had the patience you have shown.
I can't wait to see your beloved Pace Car back together.

I'm now a fan.

78 pace car...wow...doesnt get any better!!! Plus i own a 78!!! The 78 pace car in my books is the numero uno!!! It has and always be, my favorite car of all time.....well except for a c6...but i wouldnt be able to pick between the 2 thats for sure!!!

Hey I am still here.. I am just saving more money for the project car. I decided to replace the tranny crossmember because the 2 small dents is bugging me so bad.. But I will continue to work on the car during winter.. :)

Well I got the Differential rebuilt in September 2016. In the spring I put some differential oil in the differential and then I mounted it and then a couple of days after it started to leaking at two places.. I was pretty pissed since they had my differential all summer. So last summer (July 2017) I brought it back to the garage where they rebuilt it and they had it for a week since the told me they wanted to make sure it doesn't leak anymore. So I picked up the differential and re mounted it into the car and a couple of days after again it leaked at the same location.. I called them again and they specifically told me this.. You have to turn the shafts for the seals to seat sometimes. They will stop leaking then. It’s etc silicone on the cover not a gasket. I cannot keep removing the differential and carrying it around. it's powercoated and already chipped. What would you guys do if you were in my shoes..

Been there a couple times myself with this kind of thing.
Find a new shop to seal it up for you. For that matter I would have it re-checked totally as these guys seem to be less than amazing.
Sucks to know you got taken but better to take the rear ending now and get it done right before your diff grenades just a bit later costing even more.
MHO.

I'd be royally PO'd... But I agree with Derek. Cut your losses and find another shop. On a side note, I have no idea if that "turn the shafts" thing makes any sense but do you have any opportunity to try this.....

How many guys are turning the shafts over the winter? Imagine the dealers lot covered in oil back then where the Corvettes are parked on display. Haha great for sales...
Corvettes and leaks does not compute. Bet it owners manual makes no mention of this nonsense. My H1 has a similar driveline arrangement and it doesn’t leak either.

I would have completely flipped out if some shop tried pulling that BS. :Mad5: :Nono1:

None of us here in Alberta are turning shafts over the winter Derek but SlyMart hasn't listed where he is.... Not everywhere is like the prairies.... I agree though... The whole thing sound like a load of bull to me too....
