significance ?

I certainly don’t see any drawbacks to Adhering to the factory recommendations though.
Totally right. No drawback except to your route home. I just think you are putting way too much stock in it. Anyway, you'll enjoy the drive regardless. Amazing cars!

They are that for sure. This is another one of those wildly debatable topics to which there are no end of opinions. Hopefully it won’t end up like the infamous “ oil “ thread , lol . I think it all comes down to “ it depends “ . As I will be in no hurry on the way home I will err on the side of caution, can’t hurt. But then in the right situation, to the moon Alice ! Here is the video of the z06 engine being run up at the factory. The presenter makes some interesting observations. Seems well balanced and researched. Well worth a watch.

I suppose the link would help.

Ok , got it #VIN - 1G1YB2D46R5101039 . Thanks again.
Now it looks like the 27th. They are not building Z06's right now because of some parts shortage so if things hold it will be next Wednesday.

Getting shivers! Mid week is definitely better than Tuesday after a long weekend. Thanks for this.

So, "putting the hammer down" may be OK?
Nice.
I'll let you know how it goes....
Lots of opinions lol…. But ask them what they actually did with their C8 and I bet they did the same as me which is to do what the manual said! And if they don’t have a C8 yet, well I’m betting they will follow the manual especially after paying a lot more for a 2024

That’s why I personally would not buy a “ used “ one with really low mileage. Foot could have been in it since mile one . As the old saying goes, when in doubt . Be patient, there will be lots of time to flog it , lol .

I didn't follow the manual and I've had no problems at all. Following the manual and having no problems proves nothing. Not following the manual and having no problems also means nothing! LOL

You'd lose that bet.

Life's short enough. For some of us.
If you're going to screw it up, do it quickly, before the paint dries.

Yeah, I don’t think so. No way to prove it but I doubt the majority of people spending over 100G will treat their car the same as buying a Mustang or Civic. For a lot people the C8 is the most they have spent on a car. Of course those with tons of money may not care, but I don’t think that applies to the majority.

Exactly. If it's not meant to be abused, on occasion, it's not really a supercar.
What are Sport and Track mode for, again?
If I wanted a snowflake, I could have had a Tesla (sorry, Elon). Or a ....
Suck it up buttercups.

"No way to prove it". Hmmm?
One size rarely fits all, was my point to your original comment.
No offense intended. Just sayin'...

No offense taken- debate is always good. And I thought we were talking specifically about the break in period of 800kms. Is anyone really going to not follow the break in for such a short time? Doesn’t make sense to me.
But really- can you abuse a Ferrari like you can a Mustang? Just sayin’, supercars are probably much more likely to be problematic than the everyman’s performance car. But I will never be able to buy a supercar so the discussion is moot(for me anyway). The C8 is the closest I’ll get so I treat the car well (spirited driving of course)

If you've never driven a car like a C8 before, the "getting the hang of it" phase would probably suffice for a break in.
For that reason alone, I will be "gentle", until I get the hang of it.

That is very true for me. My “spirited” driving is probably very mild compared to those of you who track your cars. I have almost 15000kms and probably have gone into the yellow tach zone only a handful of times. Also I never drive in manual mode. So I am absolutely not nearing the performance capabilities.

Yes, well, what makes sense to you makes no sense to me. Todays cars and engines are made to such greater tolerances that babying the thing makes no difference. I wouldn't race it right away, but babying it is ridiculous IMO.
