Restore a Vespa

everybody knows the problem
bigger engine = more petrol consumption

a regular 50ccm vespa needs 1,5 Liter on 100km
a vespa tank has 5 Liter = range over 300km
Vespa PK S Tank

but if you take out the 50ccm cylinder and install a 136ccm malossi for exampel
your consumption grows up to 3,5 Liter on 100km
range less then 150km with one tank :-(

But weve got a solution

Take the tank of an automatic vespa with regular 5,5Liter

also Fits in the shifter
and swing the flex

and theres something going on with the italien racer

we started with the fork conversion

standard the v50 has this fork

drum brake
bad supension
no anti dive

you can buy discbrake kits like the grimeca
for 400€

the problem is - everybody can buy this
and mount on his vespa

i bought two original forks from different piaggio models
left et4 - right skr

both together 75€ ;-)

after measuring we decided that the et4 fork fits better for mounting in the v50 - because distance from mudgard holder to bearing seat is the same as on the v50 fork

skr fork is 1,5cm less

BUT
thats it
no more commonalities

- wheel on the v50 fork ist mounted on the lift side
- wheel on the et4 or skr is mounted on the right side -> oder mudgard is needed
- the mudgard holder is different -> flexing - swearing - more flexing - loud swearing
- different suspension length -> cutting the fork and mount the stage6 or maybe the malossi rs24 suspension
- different fork length -> cutting on the top and make a new thread of screw

today i got some parts from italy

for building up this vespa for our friend maxi from munich

i think today we start with
overhouling the engine
put new ropes for the breaking, the clutch and the gear shift inside
mounting whitewall tires and new rims

new steering bearings

mounted mudgard on the fork - good work and many thanks to the owners painter
to much painters filling "mud" manny told me you call it

i think the hole s**t will break up - but we allready told him before mounting the mudgard - not our problem

and mounted the fork in the frame

next monday
- build the engine
- put the tires on the rims
- mount the steering
