peterborough airport lunch.

i'll bet he's itchin'. man, that'd be like a five month case of poison ivy !!!! keep the calamine lotion - the only cure is a blower !!! :coolgleam: rick gives his regrets as he will be in montreal on business.

Rob, the guy from Cobourg, didn't even get to drive his '95. It was delivered and put right in his garage. He's been polishing since then. The car couldn't have gotten very dirty in 26K miles but it will look factory fresh come spring. I'm not sure if Rob is coming or not.

Power buffers can go through the clear coat pretty quickly on sharp edges. It's a heart stopper when it happens.
I think Rob is doing it by hand. :)

Unfortunately, I'll miss this Wednesday's lunch.

I'm stranded in Bowling Green, Ohio. The day was crazy from the start. Weather got real bad near Windsor and then south through Michigan and northern Ohio. So bad, there were pileups everywhere.

We were forced off I-75 by police due to a major wreck, so went to a restaurant to eat. Parked the truck and trailer with the 4-ways on and damned if some lady in her 70's didn't bang into the back of the trailer. My buddy was in the truck and I was just returning. I said, "Did she just hit the trailer?" Yep, she did. Couldn't find any damage on the trailer. There was a hole in her plastic front bumper.

I said to my friend, I hope the tranny is okay....sort of half-joking.

A hundred miles further south.....it wasn't okay. It took two tow trucks to get the Tahoe and the trailer in.

Stranded for several days waiting for a transmission repair that won't even begin until Monday....and I still haven't made it to Tennessee.

How's your weekend going?

Bob, sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope that you got all the info from the lady before you left the area. Transmissions, can sure be hard on the pocket book.
Rob

Unbelievable! It can't possibly get any worse so here's hoping for the rest of the journey. Keep in touch. And good luck!

Saying that it can't get any worse is like leading with your chin. Nothing ever goes wrong near home, at least for me. We'll plan another get together for March so Bob will have another chance to be there along with the other guys who can't make it this time around. Be careful on the rest of the trip. Winter is never nice for driving. See you all there on Wednesday.

Be safe Bob, if I remeber the area you are somewhere around Lima or just south of there. hope the repairs are quick and you get back on the road soon

Three killed in the accident which forced us off I-75. A young brother and sister (Canadians) are among the dead.

Kind of makes my current problems pale in comparison.

3 Killed, Trucks Tangled In ‘Nightmare’ Pileup On I-75 CBS Detroit

We are so fortunate as it happened about ten minutes ahead of us.

:o

The shop will get the Tahoe on the hoist this morning to see just how bad it all is.

I'm here for awhile yet.

Glad to hear you're OK Bob. Hope the damage is minimal to the tranny. Sad to hear of the fatalities.

Greg.

The shop just called. It appears that the rear U-joint broke and allowed the rear of the driveshaft to fall down to the road. It then pulled out of the transfer case and fell on the highway and was GONE!!! They "think" there is nothing wrong with the transmission or transfer case.

The shop says they may have a replacement this afternoon and the price should be well under $500.00, towing included. We may be back on the road to Tennessee early tomorrow morning. We

Due to the width of the auto transport trailer, we were stopped partially on the pavement of the off-ramp up against a guard rail. We both looked under the truck to see if something was obviously wrong, but didn't think to crawl under to see if the driveshaft was still there. LOL

It was too dangerous there anyway.

Weird.

Your foot must have been right in the sweet spot when it let go. I've seen some serious damage when they brake under heavy load. Especially at the drag's. One time a St, Thomas the front knuckle broke and the car pole valted right over. To bad you just couldn't go back and get.

I'm happy no one was right behind me. It must have rolled into the ditch or centre median.

This is one of the strangest things I've had happen.
