There is no doubt that there are smiles aplenty right now.
I sure hope that SC belt was slipping big time though!!!! I'm curious to see what the further messaging will result in but at least I will be sleeping easier from now on. Sort of a relief to see it all happen and does it ever sound wonderful! I may have to put that on my MP3 player and play it in the Sentra when I am driving for the rest of the winter....

HAHAHAHA! That is awesome Garry! I would play that in my car as well. I think you should find a way to set that as your alarm in the morning! That is insane! Your engine is already at 800+ hp with a little massaging to go! Wooo! Awesome!

The warm fuzzies are going to last for a while I can honestly say. I'd be lying if I said that I had hopes that it would achieve 800 rwhp but maybe my dreams were a bit too lofty but we're close and Manny thinks it will be about 35 to 65 rwhp to be added so I'll get a thick rug out and get on my hands and knees and start praying to the LS7 Gods to further bless the build!
Sadly though I also have to admit in the end it is just a number. Sort of me being 204 right now and thinking about 180 or 190 when I start to bump my calorie intake. The car will be a completely different drive now and 715, 750 or 780 it is just a number to the mind..........
I'm sure if I asked Manny he could run it to a solid 800 rwhp but the other criteria that I had discussed with Manny is that I did not want an "external combustion engine" either! Power is great but I still wanted a rock solid, reliable, bullet proof build and that had to be given weight in the outcome as well. My pockets are not so deep that I could absorb a blown engine in my Z06 life.
But still the higher the better!!!!!

But I am looking forward to the other 1 1/2 lb boost, larger injectors and for more of your programming tweeks.
The result does look very satisfying right now and it sounds so good too. I hope it wasn't too cold for the fellow outside in the snow taking the clip!

What a remarkable outcome...........and there is some tweeking yet to be done!!! That monster needs to be harnessed and only let out on special occassions (once or twice per time out)!! Your right Garry it will be for sure a new driving experience. Awesome work guys. Manny with regards to the next shop you open up, there's a great little spot right here in central AB. smack dab between Edmonton and Calgary............its called PONOKA....lol lol ha ha. Have really enjoyed following this build with everyone involved. Looking forward to the final outcome and then her trip back home.........right Garry.

Manny's way ahead of us. My tires are apparently in need of replacement but I thought it might be wise to exercise the car first, get rid of some WOT time with the old ones and finish them off when I go to get the car.
Manny has some fresh rubber waiting to be put on afterward along with the Red Stuff and I should be good to them make my way home and hopefully to arrive with most of the tread depth intact!

Sounds good Garry. Just be carefull with the old ones. Thats a lot of power and it takes good rubber to keep it hooked. Should be a blast.

The more I look at your car the more impressed I am, especially considering it's still on the stock cam. I wish I would of mentioned something to Manny about a cam swap when the motor was forged and that would of netted you an easy 40-50 rwhp!
But I've been down this road manny times-700 rwhp is a ALOT of fun-more fun than the 800, 900, and 1000 rwhp club. There comes a point when too much power becomes useless!

Yes, I've seen a video of a Camero doing a burnout and losing a tire and who needs that?! I figure that as long as I have a few mm left, no belt showing and not planning on doing a top speed run I'll be OK. Just a little tiresmoke is all. Might as well use up what's left on the old skins.

I know, 800 is just a silly number in my mind. I know sort of like with the piston upgrade and that also subsequetly mandated a clutch upgrade that going higher hp is more expensive and then next I'd be looking at possibly transmission/half shaft upgrades and so sooner or later you need to bring it to an end.
I had also wondered why we didn't discuss intake and cam options as well but I think that this will be a good point to experience the car. And it should still be ultra driveable in town too so no cam is probably OK for the time being.
I do agree that getting closer to 4 numbers would make for a much more challenging car to launch and as I don't want this to be a drag racing car but a street or road course type of car that this will be a good power level for me.
It has even been recommended that I ask you guys to de-tune it for a while to give me experience with the power as going from 448 to 750 - 780 range might be a bit of a step. But I hope if I am prudent with how I apply the power I can use it more and for longer periods as time goes on.
If I survived my first summer without inducing wheelspin I am hopeful that I'll be fine. I'm not a drag racer nor do I intend to become one but I love being on a long, flat, empty Alberta road and going WOT for a few seconds and being kicked in the seat and letting that LS7 do its' thing. Now it is just a case of more (much, much more!) so.

gary you are wise to want to enjoy your car on the street and to engage in some road course fun. drag racing is a whole different thing. it sounds to me like the build that the dasilva crew has put together is perfectly suited to road course action and events such as the 1/2 mile runs. drag racing means equipping the car to pass tech safety for what the car is capable of running and also acceptance of the fact that there will be ALOT of parts breakage. enjoy. doug.

I totally agree with you on this. Drag racing is hard on a vehicle as the goal is to survive for as many passes as you can, but each pass is for something in the 10 to 15 second range where the car is being pushed as hard as possible.
I remember hearing a F1 driver who said that the goal is not winning by the largest margin of victory but by the smallest - to avoid pushing the car.
That is what I liked about the autocross experience. It is not just getting in and WOT and shift gears 3 or 4 times (and for the drag racers I know it is more than just that) but about cornering, braking and accelerating. Sort of like the difference between F1 races and oval NASCAR or Indycar tracks........
Likewise for a good road course. It could be for 10 minutes or an hour and you need to have your car make it to the end so it gets pushed but not beaten.
Buying this car, doing this build, is a significant invest for me and to go through this experience and then to damage the car doing 1/4 mile passes is not why I selected the car. Sure it is a fast 1/4 miler in its own right. But now many truely capable 200 mph cars are there in the world and I'm just a damn lucky SOB to have one and now maybe it will be a member of an ever more rare club, maybe the 220 mph cars! Plus there is a difference in taking a car like this and making go 20 mph faster vs. taking a 140 mph car, running it up to 600 hp and then challenging 180 or 190 mph. That is beyond what that car was designed to do. 20 mph faster in a Z06, I'm sure the engineers at GM would be nodding their heads in approval.
Not that I wouldn't ever drag race, but I think I would actually go the AWD import route if that was to be the case.

It's all too easy to build a car with no street manners just to get that last bit of power. That gets old all too quickly. Back in the old days we had the 425 hp 427 Chevelle that was as streetable as a 307. It would start at -32F and idle along in 90+F heat. The L88 and ZL1, well, let's just say you won't find any of them that have run up anywhere close to 200K miles like our car did. There is a reason for that. No manners and still only half the hp of Garry's car. How much begging do I have to do to get a ride in your car Garry? That would be awesome.
