Good afternoon Vince,
I know this is almost sort of odd to say but I am so nervous about getting the dyno numbers when the car is done. It is with something that I can only describe as similar to when I was waiting to get the results of my cancer tests that I feel about this! Not as critical an outcome of course but still something that brings my stomach into my throat for some reason. Nervous excitement perhaps?
I hope that Manny will let us know why the AIT sensor was moved too. I always say that if you don't learn something new then the day has been wasted and I've had my fill of wasted days in my life so I'm looking forward to learning something mechanical today!

We move the IAT back on to the manifold and behind the throttle body , so that if we stop spraying meth while in boost it will detect it and cut timing to save the engine from damage 
lookie there !!! i can see clean through the tops of the pistons !!!

Thanks Manny! So logical but also good knowledge. The nicest part is that it is actually something that I can even understand and not something beyond my level of mechanical comprehension.
I was always sort of scared of those pictures from that one fellow's engine of the melted/damaged cylinder liner that were posted. Now that was frightening and not the sort of situation that I ever hope to find myself in.
I even actually wonder how often I'll find myself in a WOT/flogging Colin's mule situation? I suspect it will be a case of simply knowing that I have the power, not that it gets used every time I go to get the mail.

The pinning of the crank

You know I'm going to ask.
I know what shot-pinning is, I think I do anyway, and that this must have to do with strengthening prior to SC addition, but I'll bite and why do you do this to the crankshaft prior??
Arun's trying to coax me into getting some forged pistons now for another hp kick......
Railcars have arrived, one of the grain truck is stuck from yesterday bringing it back to the yard after filling it. The pro's and con's of winter grain hauling - you don't sweat as much but getting stuck and trying to get equipment started when it is cold more than make up for that! But it will be oh so nice to get it off the field and into the car and down the track, regardless of the outcome when it hits the port.

So this is sort of the same thing that we do when we have a shaft that is just slightly loose with a bearing and we Loktite it but first we use a punch to put a few dimples in the shaft to give the bearing race something to grab on to?
Wow, do those headers look nice! I might almost have to get one of those clear ZR1 hoods to be able to show of LS7 bling!
This is really getting exciting!
I feel just like Colin/a giddy school girl............

Yes! You're quite correct. The words sound the same and in this case even sort of do the same thing. Upon closer examination of Manny' picture I now see what appears to be a dowl pin in the end of the crankshaft and in the pulley! Now I understand what is going on. A bit dense this kid sometimes I tell ya!
Loaded two trucks of grain. It looks good, no signs of heating which is a huge relief. A few things yet have to come out in the wash - the grade, hopefully #2 or better, the % protein (I use more nitrogen than my dad and his was I think 12%, you get higher prices for mroe protein and critically the moisture content. They are being ultra hard on the moisture content. If it is above 14.5% even at 14.6% it will be considered tough instead of dry and I'll lose about 5 to 6% of the price. Even though they won't actually dry it at the port but will just blend it off with some dry stuff they have on hand!
So that will be about 2 weeks to get the results of this.
The loading is being done by 4 of us, I vac, Dad and JR #1 sweep and move the vac hose for me and JR #2 moves the trucks. But for the unloading it only takes three of them and so they are nice enough to bring me home. The doctor had said that there should be no heavy work for a long time after surgery but vacuuming grain is not that bad really. But since they only need 3 people to load the grain from the truck to the railcar dad dropped me off so I could rest for two hours.
The weather is horrible, a strong and getting stronger north wind, the pathway that was cleared through the field over two days in two hours is badly blown in.
We'll have to do another double pair of trucks I think and then we're done. I think that we'll fill another set this afternoon but will wait until tomorrow morning to load the railcar when the wind is suppose to be calmer and then load up the final set of trucks.
Another railcar is coming next week as well and that will finish most of the pile on the ground and it will be a huge relief to have that hauled out!

Good evening,
While the first load went OK the second one was about par for the Ropchan farm. Two hours later the pathway through the field has completely blown in. So we're smart enough not to take the semi through but taking the tandem truck we still get it stuck.
But we start the tractor and vac to let them warm up anyway.
Go back to the farm and get a 4WD tractor to pull the grain truck.
Do this, get to the vac and find out that the PTO sheer bolt broke while we were letting it warm up, not sure why as it was a fresh, clean break. So have to drive to my place to get a new bolt.
Put it on, pull the grain truck out and then start to fill it.
Then dad tells me mom got her pickup stuck in the yard - mom has killer winter tires on rims but dad thinks that winter tires are a scam and so refuses to put them on fo rher. I told her previously not to let dad touch her truck but that fell on deaf ears.
So now after everything we have to pull her out. Plus we need to go back into town to take the tractor there (operates the auger for putting the grain into the railcars) to get fuel and bring it to my parents place as it is going to be cold tonight and we need to have it plugged in. So off to do this, dad's fuel card won't get accepted and I don't have my wallet with me.
Then I also have to follow dad home with my truck with the flashers on since the rear tractor lights decide to give up the ghost.
Get to my parents place finally, mom took her keys out of her truck that is stuck - like someone was going to steal it???? So more delays, get mom's truck out and then dad take me back to my car which was at the entry to the field and then I'm home.
Sort of depressed but then that all evaporated when............
OMG I saw those HOT HOT HOT SEXY new valve springs!!
Oh ya! A higher redline baby!
Manny you pulled me from a bit of a depressed state to being on top of the world again!
Still more grain to load tomorrow but it is going to be colder but at least no wind.
What surprises will Manny have for me to perk up my day........!!
