Peace River N Da House - The arrival of Garry's VY 06 Z06

Good morning fellows,

This will be my target.........

04 T76 Hellion Cobra - 740 rwhp/754 rwtq @ 18.5 psi on pump gas + meth
Dyno Vid - T76 Turbo Hellion cobra Dyno runs - YouTube
10.98 @ 127 on the little whipple and 570 rwhp

No runs yet with the 740 rwhp mods completed.

This car, if it has not been stripped or gutted, has about 400 lb more weight to haul so I am hopeful. But he is also a more experienced racer of course too. I'm the guy who has not even ever raced or smoked his rear tires yet.........

Think I'll be able do it Manny??

Cheers,

Garry

I wouldn't sweat it Garry. After the race, you can tell him you beat him with your air conditioning on.

Good morning Gentlemen,

Yes, now that I have my two camera mounts there will be video for sure!

I hope that we can agree to a nice rolling start to avoid excess tire smoke and powertrain strain.

When he was running the 570 set up I thought the previous mods would have been sufficent but when he came out with the 740 result this winter I thought this guy is pretty serious about having one fast street car. Thankfully Arun put the bug in my ear and Manny was able to "coax" me along!

These guys are from the car club in Grande Prairie. Mostly Asian cars but a few domestic. They're mainly a drifting crowd which is not my cup of tea but I mean a car guy is still pretty well a car guy........

I just hope that with my inexperience I can do a Dasilva prepped car proud. Maybe I'll have to practice first.

Again they had the usual question:

"Welcome to the Club!

Nice to see a eager corvette owner , What mods are you getting done? you didn't have to take it all the way to Ontario to get work done!?! One of the 2 best GM LS guys in Canada are in Alberta. Fastest LSX powered street car in Alberta is from Horsepower solutions in Edmonton. but I am sure the Ontario guys can make some power for ya!

I Love C6Z's have ran a few of them and a ZR1 over the years. I plan on adding one to my stable sooner or later.

When ever you want to line them up, I'm your huckleberry "

I find it odd that he's had a few Z06's, a ZR1 and he rolls with a modded 2004 Cobra. Not the way I'd have seen one moving car wise...........

Cheers,

Garry

is the guy a drag racer gary ? if so perhaps he moved to the cobra and converted it to solid rear from the irs - i have heard that the cobra irs is the weak link to high horsepower. from what i understand the conversion is not that difficult. be interesting to know if he is running an automatic with a brake. to a drag racer it's all about the launch. could be the reasoning behind the switch ?

Good morning buckhorn76,

An interesting thought. He is the moderator for the GP car club actually and like I was saying these guys like their drifting and drag racing so you could be spot on with this. I'll ask him when I post on the site next and see what he says.

Still, going from a Z06 to a ZR1 I can see. Going from a ZR1 to a Cobra just leaves me confused. Drag racing is fine and all but I mena you can make a ZR1 go pretty fleet o'foot as well without having to resort to switching cars.

1/4 mile racing is fine, but I like being able to go fast, not just hitting 120 to 150 mph in 9 to 12 seconds and then calling it a day. Being able to exercise the car for 5 or 10 miles of extended high speeds is so exhilarating!

Cheers,

Garry

Garry,
You have to be loving this project. Is it all coming together for you, or does it still seem surreal? After seeing this, I want to convert my 350 to a 383stroker. Unfortunately my wallet doesn't agree.:D

OOOOOh, all that bling under there lookin' so shiny and new.
That thing will be a monster when Garry comes for it in the spring.

C.

Good afternoon,

Yes, I would say it is something that I am really enjoying! Sort of fun to watch it unfold and progress during the winter.

Wow. I actually sat here for a while and stared at it. It must be lighter now that it is carbon free! Almost worth having it removed just to make it all nice and tidy like that.

On a carbon related point, Manny, how do I minimize C buildup after the build?????

It looks so nice and new. While I have always subscribed to the belief that wanting is better than having, this would probably be an exception to the rule.

The guys with the club in Grande Prairie are very excited and even the 2004 Cobra driver is thinking he doesn't stand a chance. Their $ is on a 2010 GTR but if it is stock I can't see that being a problem either.

I sure can't wait to represent Dasilva out here and to make everyone proud of what they've achieved. Not to mention having a Corvette as KR would be a fine, fine accomplishment too.............

Cheers,

Garry

WOW Garry , I am so thrilled for you .

Lets kick some butt

Its a much fun for us to build this car for you as it is for you

Beautiful! Those parts looks so nice and shiny! Woo!

My recommendation to keep the carbon from building up is to drive it like you stole it every once in a while. It works for my Chevelle. She idles really well after I make some noise.
