Oil change

My advice would be to change the oil before putting it away. Assuming you have the 3 year timeline for your 2 free service appointments, you might want to pay for the oil change and defer the DCT service until you have the 12k kms. SOME dealerships say you don't have to use the DCT service on the first free oil change, if that's the case then great you are all set.
I did my own oil change last fall on my 2023, then used my first oil change/DCT service last week. One free oil change will never get used (I got two) but that's okay by me.
What does your odometer say now .

I go my 2024 stingray in April. I have about 7,700km on it so far so not quiet close to 12,000km

I'm thinking of storing it away for winter soon and then getting the first oil change and DCT filter change in the spring when I'm probably closer to 12,000km.

Just wondering if you guys like to change your oil in the fall or in the spring. I'm thinking my oil is good enough and last and it would probably be best to start the season with fresh oil next year.
I was told to wait for spring because the gadget that tells you how much your oil life is, keeps going down, in %, while your car is in storage. It is bull.... but GM wants to compensate dealers for all the E.V.s. So that is why GM says oil change at least once a year or amount of mileages. This synthetic oil can last more than twice, the recommended mileage at least.

Safest bet is to go by the odometer and operating conditions much like has been the case since the advent of the internal combustion engine….

Our guide says a certain mileage but I always doubled at least, with any oil, what the mileage and never had any engine problems.

When you consider that numerous modern engines, like some Toyotas if properly maintained can go as far as 1,000,000 km you would have to wait a while to find out. As I always like to say, oil cheap, engine expensive.

Under warranty, so free. ;)
This may be true .... but failures are carefully engineered to stick it in your a%$ as soon as the warranty expires

If you plan on keeping it that long ... ;)
So at 85 months….kaboom !

So yes as my comrade stated so eloquently .... oil cheap ... engine expensive :Cheers2:

Don't get hung up on the idea that there is some 1 year life expectancy with Mobil 1 synthetic oil. YEARS of testing by independent people have proven over and over and over and over again that the change in the quality of the oil over a 2 year span is insignificant. You want to throw away your money, please feel free. I care not, but quit trying to convince people to change their oil for absolutely no reason.

As insignificant as some claim (and it may in fact be minuscule) but there is a life expectancy with Mobil 1 synthetic oil. This past summer, all that attended the IMSA Corvette Corral at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park were treated to some very informative seminars. One of which was an engineer for Mobil 1. This specific question was asked and talked about in great detail. I realize he is in the business of selling oil, but I don't think he was just making stuff up. He went as far as to say, an open bottle of Mobil 1 synthetic oil has a shorter lifespan than a sealed one. Suffice it to say, noticeable gains or losses may not be realized during our ownership using these practices, but as far as car enthusiasts, Corvette owners are an anul bunch. When financial resources are not an issue, sometime "piece of mind" are reason enough.

My dad used to drive 500,000 miles a year because of his job which was in the States and we lived in Quebec. He had F 150s and he taught me that oil changes can be stretched out at least twice as long as recommended by dealers. That was when synthetic oil did not exist. The filter is the part you should worry about. Car manufacturers had a secret deal between them and oil companies. Oil said make them change their oil often so we make money on our sales and you make money on the labor and on our products. Why do you think cars now say 16000 kms instead of 8000 kms. Porsche says 40 to 50000 kms between changes. Maybe diff today but its what I had read a few years back. Anyway I drive aggressively and drag race my cars and do burn outs and I would reset my warning at 5% back to 100% at least once. So 16000kms became 32000kms. etc... As long as I could see the dip stick lines/words clearly I would not change it.
