Looking to order 2017 GS

View attachment 6149 Sorry David WG, I forgot about the manual trans thing. When at the plant July 15 and 18 watching our GS get assembled, I asked 3 people on the line as well as my tour guide about the manuals. I even talked with Kai Spande Plant Mgr. Basically the responses I got were all similar. Sequencing. Might be a supplier thing, could be due to volume of A8's ordered for MY2017 start up. No indication of anything out of the ordinary. Sorry I didn't find out anything more definitive than that.

As for Extra dealer options. I just took delivery of our 2017 GS and the 5yr tire and wheel package was $656. The 84 mth 80,000K zero deductible Total Plus Pkg. ( extended warranty) Like $3000.

On a car like the C7 I always take the Total Plus pkg. Cost of repair on these is astronomical.

Hey thanks for that Ric. Some comments on the US Corvette Forum have suggested that the manual transmission models are getting some extra cooling capacity thus the delay, but nothing officially from anyone. It appears that the delay may have lifted this week as my dealer called me this morning to tell me that the system would now accept my order which has been sitting in limbo since the end of May. However, another disappointment came up in that the system would not accept my order for red brake calipers. Rather than delay the order for an unknown further period I told them to go ahead and place the order with the base black calipers. Disappointing as I had ordered the red hash marks on the fenders to go with the red calipers. No projected manufacture week yet but I have my fingers crossed that I'll get delivery before the first frost. Thanks again for asking.

Changed my mind, decided that since I am likely not going to get my GS with M7 transmission until the fall I might as well wait an extra couple of weeks until I can get the red calipers that will match my red hash marks. Two or three years from now I'll forget about the several week delay but every time I wash the car I'll regret not having waited for the red calipers. Interestingly a posting on the US Corvette Forum says with some authority that the Constraint on the red calipers has been caused due to the brake supplier running out of the high temperature red paint due to unexpectedly high demand. Not sure what that speaks more to, failure of supply chain management or failure of the order system to effectively predict demand. No matter what it is it is not a great comment when the supply of a very popular component runs out. Guess those folks who did not order red calipers will get their cars faster than expected now.
