Looking to order 2017 GS

Not surprised. Still in hot demand here while US dealers have hundreds in stock with so called discounts-too sad I spent all my US funds on vacations.

I was told there was about $6000 profit to be made on the base and Z51. Only one dealer in Quebec offered me close to $3500 on 2016 Z51 build allocation. All dealers require a deposit on build and will gladly return that deposit if a mutual agreement on final price is not reached. Anyone know of a dealer wishing to deal on this vehicle? I got a 2006 Z51 to sell/trade as well.

Placed my order for Z51 in late May and dealer took my 2014 Z51 in on trade at that time for a guaranteed trade in price. In the US prices for 2017 Z51 are only up about $100 over 2016, so not much of a gamble. In June I was contacted by dealer and advised of a 4 week production delay on manual transmission coupe only - my order was for a manual. At that point I changed my order to a GS. GS is about $5000 more than Z51 package in the US but GS includes magnetic ride as standard where it is a $2000 option on Z51. That would lead me to believe that a modestly equipped GS with chrome wheels and red calipers (car is Watkins Glen Grey) and navigation/pdr should be about $88k - $89k. The GS production started on June 24th the same time as the Stingray but the same 4 week delay applies to the manual transmission coupe. Also, there is a two week plant shutdown at Bowling Green this summer. I am not planning on delivery till first or second week of September. I am aware of some dealers offering small discounts but they tend to be stores with low allocations so you might get your car by November. The big allocation dealers are not talking any form of discounts so your only hope is a good evaluation of your trade in.

Projections I've heard tossed about is base GS about $11K higher than base Stinray and $15K less than base Z06.
Based on pricing from my 2016 ZO6, 3LT coupe, Long Beach Red Metallic, Spice red design pkg. Ordered Jan 30th built March 17,2016 I've projected my wife's 2017 GS convertible 2LT, Torch red blk top, adrenaline red\black two tone interior with red seat belts, Nav, chrome wheels, red calipers to come in at about $93K. Ordered Jan 30th, went to code 3000 Feb 3 and going to watch it built this Friday July 15 at 1:30PM.
One week later I will be picking it up form the dealer and will find out the magic number.
Will let U know.

I see a few local dealers on Kijiji in Edmonton are offering up their stables of mainly 2016 Z51's openly for $5-6K off msrp. Are others seeing anything more aggressive? I'm sure with 17's arriving soon deals should get better.

Ric, I would be very interested in hearing the final price on your 2017 vert. Have a great trip to Bowling Green, we have done the plant tour twice in the past two years on our way to wintering in Florida.

I think you are very close on your 2017 GS calculation. Yours must be the first GS to be delivered in Canada. Hopefully that means the prices will be public by the time yours arrives in Canada in 10 days or so. When I deduct the additional cost for your convertible and automatic transmission I get a very similar number to what I have calculated for my 2017 GS order. I too have ordered chrome wheels, red calipers and navi with PDR. I have assumed your build on July 15th is an automatic transmission since the 4 week production delay only applies to the manual transmission models. Despite lots of searching I have not been able to find out the cause of that 4 week production delay for the manual transmission models. However, my dealer confirmed it again yesterday and worst of all they had to order automatics or lose their allocation slot which I suspect will further delay my order. My estimated first or second week of September may be optimistic. Bottom line is that it will be a Corvette-less summer for me.

Frank I too have noticed a few discounts appearing for the 2016 base and Z51 models from Canadian dealers. This was happening in the US the latter half of 2016. I suspect we will see more of it even on the 2017s after the initial rush of orders for the GS and the other 2017 models have settled down.

A very good source (the dealer) told me there was $ 10,000.00 markup on the base and Z51 when I bought my 2015. If he was going to bull$hit me, I would have expected he would have down played the profit line instead.
That would definately leave them room to move some 2016's before the 17's hit the shelves if they were so inclined. I bought mine in late September and they grudgingly dropped $ 4500.00 off MSRP. I also traded my C6 to them for a good buck so was pretty pleased with the entire outcome.

OK DavidWG, when I get the sticker info I will let you know. While at the plant I will ask about the manual tranny holdup. Might not get an answer though! Yes both are A8.

Just for clarity - a little mistake in time line in previous message. The 2016ZO6 was ordered Jan 30th, Code 3000 Feb 3 built March 17/18 delivered to dealer March 25th.
The 2017GS ordered June 3, Code 3000 June 7th, TPW June 16th for July 15/18 build.

WHat was interesting is that my dealer was able to use a Stingray allotment to order the GS. No special allotment required. My dealer gets Cadillac and Vette Allotments on Thurs. for order placement by 5PM on the Sat. or allotment disappears. Seems its getting easier to order them now even Z's.

Saw two Grand Sports (1 coupe 1 conv) at the Corvette Coral at the Mobil 1 GT Grand Prix on the weekend. Both GM exec cars. Cant wait!

Thanks for that info Ric, that is very interesting. My original order for the Z51 went in on May 28th. did not order the GS then as I was led to believe that I could not get delivery till the fall. Don't know if dealer didn't know or didn't bother to find out or if GM even knew then that GS was going to start production right along side the Stingray. I was advised of the production delay for the manual transmission coupe around mid June and then decided to order the GS regardless. Went in and changed order to a GS on June 22nd. Unfortunately, GS coupe has the same 4 week production delay as Z51 coupe so I suspect allocations are similarly impacted. My dealer is Humberview Chev in Toronto and they generally have an excellent allocation so hopefully will hear soon as to the build date. By the way, excuse my ignorance but what is code 3000 and TPW?

Thanks again.

So how was the trip to Bowling Green? Any light on the 4 week production delay for the manual transmission coupes?
Have another question for you today. I have ordered the Heritage Package with the fender hash marks and interior treatment. Dealer calls me today and says he thinks I also have to take the full length racing stripe with the Heritage Package which I do NOT want. I agree the GM order guide is a bit ambiguous on the matter. I think the guide means that in order to order the full length stripe you also must order the Heritage package. I am pretty confident that I can order the Heritage Package WITHOUT the stripe. Anyway the salesman has gone off to try and chase an answer down which no doubt will be a challenge given GMs lack of information for Canadian dealers. Any pricing on your yet?

My dealer says the base is 77895 for the coupe and 82895 for the convertible.

Is that official GM Canada pricing for the Grand Sport or dealer speculation? Using extrapolation from US price lists and Canadian 2016 price lists that has got to be pretty close but as far as I can tell GM Canada still has not released Canadian pricing - very strange.

Honestly, I don't have any proof but I've had my dealer keeping an eye on it for many weeks and emailed me the other day with those numbers.

Thanks for the info, hopefully they are very close as that is about what I have been counting on. I have added a few other options (2LT interior, Chorme wheels, Red Calipers, Navigation and PDR and Heritage package), which will take my price up about $10k more. My order for the GS has been with the dealer for several weeks now due to the 4-week production hold on the manual transmission models. Hopefully that will clear in the next week or so and my order will get a new code and eventually a build date not too far out in the future so that I can get a bit of driving in this season.

Great conversation on the new GS! I'm looking forward to hearing when you guys get your new cars!!!!

When I looked at unhaggle.com it shows the difference between MSRP and invoice was 7500 bucks for a Z51 1LT.

Nice, I hope that works out for you. I'm hold off until Spring of next year so I will be very envious when you have your car.

Yah. I used Unhaggle. Sales person from Jim Tubman Chevy on Bank called me right away only to tell me that no discount is to be applied to the vette on the lot or on allocation. Who's offering that much discount??? I still get a thrill from driving my 2006 Z51 manual; I can see myself in a C7 but I’m not paying full pop. I’m glad I didn’t buy a new 2016 as I’m now leaning towards the highly anticipated 2017 GS 2LT in Long Beach Red. But I can be convinced to buy a 2016 should there be a decent discount-something I’m starting to see dealers do now to make room for 2017s…

What kind of discount did you get or anticipate?

Very good question. What got me thinking about discounts (as well as the 36 month 0% financing) was looking at Autotrader. If you do a search for new 2016's, you can see there are at least two dealers that are showing a discount off of MSRP. Here's one that's showing 4k off:

Car - 2016 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51 in Oshawa, ON $87,418

Disclaimer: I haven't actually gone through the configurator to confirm that MSRP but I feel they would look really bad if they inflated that number to make the discount look like more than it is.

Personally, if I was set on getting a 2016 off of a dealer lot, I'd try for at least 3k discount.

Andrew
