Federal Election 2021

Let's face it, this PM is without a doubt, the dumbest ever, no monetary sense between the ears, he admitted, it is not on his radar, Families, he says, as he bankrupts the treasuryl. WAKE UP CANADA, TOTE THEM OUT! He does not recognize a dollar from billions, UGH!

There are way to many points in this thread to get you rev'ed up. I do find your view on the gun control thing interesting though. Just to be clear I don't even own a gun, but I have shot many guns. You point about not needing a howitzer seems a bit funny to me since you drive a howitzer car. You don't need a high HP car to get to the grocery store. Yet you still own one and presumably like owning one. Most people's problem with guns is they can only see them as a weapon, not as a tool. Besides the fact that you are significantly more likely to die in a car than by a gun, why isn't a car a weapon? It isn't the guy buying a gun (of any style or type) over the counter that is at all the problem. Just like the guy who owns a 600hp car but follows the rule of the road isn't. Out of the shootings that have happened in Canada (or the US for that matter) the guns are almost never obtained legally. So how does making more guns illegal help the problem?

Sorry guess you struck a bit of a nerve on this one.

I'll agree with you that I don't need a Vette to go to the grocery store (which I wouldn't do anyway) but I didn't buy the Vette for self protection either.
I am not talking about making guns illegal either. I just don't see the need for an automatic with a 50 round mag to go out hunting to put meat on the table. Or for that matter using dynamite to get the fish to the surface. Just have to scoop them up then.
Plus I hope that it is safer out there knowing that more than most likely the corner idiot is not packing.
I have as well used firearms and have signed for people that need their permits renewed. So I am not against firearms but am for some limitations - just like speed limits on roads.
But now we deviate from the main topic. My fault really as I brought it up.
Back to the future elections.

I do agree there is an aspect of socialism with our system of government, as it need to look after people, infra-structure, health, schooling, military, etc. These are things that tax payers' fund and things that are required. What is not required is censorship of thought, taking away guns that look like military guns (automatic guns have been banned in Canada since the 70's), yet gang bangers run amok, open boarders (a country is defined by its border), no accountability on spending our hard earned tax dollars, hypocritical lip service about the environment (when JT flies two jets during the last election, one for him and his minions, the other for journalists), scandal after scandal, ethics breaches, and the list goes on. I have read Liberals are looking at capital gains on primary residence sales, increase tax on inheritance and estate and of course increasing the carbon tax. When the working people don't have enough money left over at the end of the day, they turn to the government. I lived in a communist country. Came to Canada in 1968 as a young boy. Welfare was an embarrassment back than. Now it's expected and demanded in some cases. The system is turning into people for the government instead of the government for the people. Canada is a wonderful country and we the voters need to send a message that we would like to keep it that way, without Trudeau and the Liberals at the helm.

Best quote I have is " the government that governs the best is the government that governs the least"
Unfortunately all the parties have taken the stance, in one way or another, that they will show us what needs to be done to make our lives so much better. Maybe if they undid some of the things they have done in the past things would improve. Don't hear any of the parties advocating for smaller government. After all, that would imply less civil servants and would cost votes which is what it is really all about for all of them.

Sorry but I must comment on this deviation from topic...lol...
Firearms limitations have been in place for decades Richard. You cannot buy an automatic rifle whether it has a 50 round mag or not. Semi-autos and repeaters have been limited to maximum 5 round mags for decades as well with extremely stiff penalties if you are even caught in possession of a larger one. The military styles, although maybe intimidating looking are subject to the exact same restrictions and are capable of nothing that an innocent looking hunting rifle can't do. Gun safes for storage have also been required by law for many years now.
I was raised with a gun in my hand since age 12, hunting rabbits with my dad and continue to hunt many species of game to this day. I don't really care if I harvest an animal every year as long as I can maintain very tasty meat in my freezer. I hunt for the fresh air and exercise, and the opportunity to get out of the city and back to nature. The harvest is a bonus. It is the criminals and psychopaths' that smuggle the machine guns and howitzers into the country, and either use them to vent their misplaced anger, or sell them to other criminals for profit, much like they sell that stolen TV and laptop from their last break-in.
Guns don't kill people, much like knives, baseball bats and cars don't kill people. People kill people. The Liberals, at the pleading of Ont. and Que. leftist lobby groups, would like nothing more than to outlaw all guns outside of law enforcement personnel hands and that scares me. He is chipping away at that with his banned firearms bill and if he remains in power will without any doubt add to the list until it is finalized. Once all guns are criminalized,, only criminals will have guns and we already know that the criminal element multiplies without much in the way of limitation, adequate enforcement or sufficient penalty. Good comment Rruuff.
I'm not against guns either. I am am even for culling wildlife populations if necessary unlike some willy nilly do gooders who protest just about anything thing they can because that is just about all they have to do.
I wonder why cities insist that airports be located outside of the metropolis area and then proceed to issue residential building permits in the area.
Funniest one I saw was in Van when, after the Magog train explosion, the nearby condos to the port started wondering what would happen if something went kaboom at the port. No one was asking. they city why building permits had been issued next to the port. No politicians got up to say that should not have been done. All they look at are the taxes to further their grandiose ideas of the "ideal" society. Stuck with the same idiocy here where I am living. Mayor has grandiose ideas on how great this city can be without taking in to account how much the citizens can afford.
My personal view of most politicians is that they are most educated dim wits around. I gotta stop. It is getting to discouraging thinking about it. LOL

Doesn't everyone follow @Jeffer2013? He's the bomb!

Hey, he should run for Prime Minister, maybe start up the Corvette Party. I'd vote for him!

lol... I read this and it reminded me of one of the signs I picked up antique picking in Saskatchewan a couple months ago... Maybe we should sneak up to Jeffs and mount this on his front door....

liberal platform released more gun control policies this am
scary for freedoms
and more scary as the criminals get braver every time the restrictions are imposed
criminals used to be scared of confronting home owners but prosecutors and police tell me that criminals have 911 on speed dial
so that if home owner confronts them they can dial 911 for cops to come quickly
this happened last month in fact
wow hold on boys and girls it is about to get rough out there

Well said Rruuff. I was going to type almost exactly what you replied with. The issue is the thought that guns are for self defense and not a hobby or a tool. There are not many people in Canada buying a gun for self defense. This isn't to say they wouldn't get used that way if needed mush like a knife or baseball bat. But not many people keep a knife handy solely for self defense reasons.

Back on to the political topic though....when Trudeau loses this election (that he called to try to gain seats) I want the camera to be right in his face so I can save the image! He should never have been allowed to run anything let alone a country.

If JT wins his minority ... I guess I am to blame it on global warming ...
Seems to be the scapegoat reasoning for everything these days.

So far with what I am reading, a JT minority may not be the case ...

I thought this article summed up the divide in the country quite well. I was surprised that I found it on the CBC website.

rural-urban divide
There was a French debate last evening with everyone there spending all kinds of out money for this and for that.
Don't like JT nor O'T or NDP and least of all the PQ.
However the PQ guy, Blanchette, asked O'T if he would repeat everything he said was OK with him in the English debate. Touché. O'T agrees with just about everything the PQ wants. O'T is currying favour with the Quebecois. Just like everyone else.
They are all up there throwing our money around just like spaghetti. Throw it on the wall and see what sticks.

And a good quote from Kim Campbell. Anyone remember her?
"The election is not a time to discuss serious issues"
Our fantastic leaders are showing us how to live up to that.

And another good one
"If you never encounter anything in your community that offends you, then you are not living in a free society."

Other than the support I have for the above comments, one point no one mentioned is Trudeau through his actions, (buying the TMX pipeline) among others is a Communist, check out the Documentary "Cuba Libre" on Netflix there are many similarities to Castro's (gestures and history) both uneducated for starters.

One of the major problems with the Quebec situation is there are 8 million people in Quebec (they never signed the Constitution and Canada has to support them through equalization payments - get this even NFL!
