Just curious, everyone seems to refer to Shane on this forum (and I think the other ones as well), is it simply a matter, for anyone waiting on their build, to reach out to him to confirm movement from 3000 to 3300 to 3800 and the VIN ?? How do we reach him ? He must get bombarded with emails if everyone on a build list reaches out to this one guy at the plant for info. No, Shane told me to contact him later in the week and he'd have it....
If your dealer told you May 15th, I would wait until May 1st to contact Shane to get the partial vin to track your car down to the day/hr of productionJust curious, everyone seems to refer to Shane on this forum (and I think the other ones as well), is it simply a matter, for anyone waiting on their build, to reach out to him to confirm movement from 3000 to 3300 to 3800 and the VIN ?? Would he be able to tell, based on a 3000 status, if the parts are all coming in as scheduled to be able to confirm an estimated build week ? My dealer told me May 15th as the estimated build week, so would love to be able to confirm it with Shane as well (if he would happen to know).
Thanks
Your dealer can get you all the pertinent info, but likely couldn't be bothered. It's really extraordinary having a resource like the museum and Shane in particular. Your vin is not received exactly at 3400, but hours after the code is registered. That is why Shane can't necessarily get the vin at 3400. The same with the dealer. They can also get the vin, but many simply do not know how or are too lazy to do it since the vin will come when the car is built which usually takes 6 to 10 days to go from 3400 to 3800 (built).Figured before someone tells me to use the search function, like those before me, going thru the same build phases, looked it up, and found Shane's info and read some of the experiences other folks have gone thru as they moved thru the build process post 3000. Awesome forum for this kind of info, thanks !! Good suggestion, will patiently wait until May 1st, and reach out to see if he has any info on the parts coming in, to confirm the build week. I may have to reach out to my dealer to get my order #, as we did things fairly quickly over the phone to get the build in on time.
I was told that GM should be providing 150 a year which isn't happening. So in the last 12 months, top Canadian dealership by allocation (Brian Cullen) has received 80 Stingray allocations + 4 z06 allocations
I believe any of the top three have received roughly 100. Some years a shade over and some a shade under. Parts issues have really reduced the numbers everywhere. So it's hard to be accurate with predictions. Even GM has had issues with that. They used to provide all dealers with expected yearly allocations, but since Covid, that has stopped AFAIK.I think their peak was 100 per year
Don't give GM ideas. Next will be training wheels...It started with him telling me I needed an order without Z51 but two hours later I needed Z51. At this point after waiting 14 months I don't care if they say it needs curb feelers I just want the damn car.
It's not that there are non available. It's that GM decides what to give a dealer. Then it's up to the dealer to assign the allocation. Some dealers at a certain time will get non and some will get Z51's. It's all up to GM how to award them. That's really interesting. My sales person told me that he's always scrambling to find non-Z51 builds because almost everyone is Z51. As such, I'd move thru the list faster with a non-Z51 build. Honestly, end of the day, I don't need Z51 but, if it moves me thru the list faster, I'd get it...makes be basically indifferent to the package.
