So Who Bought a 2015 Corvette in Canada?

And don't forget to keep your Corvette bros and sisters up to date so we can see the Z in the flesh!

Getting a Z06 would be unreal! Looking forward to finally seeing you guys in your rides!

If all works out I would be coming right through those flat lands next summer Riley P. Only place in the world that map land markings include lone trees and your dog can run away and still be seen running days later.

I have my hand up to say I have a 2015 Crystal Red Z51 Coupe on order (June 18). I ordered the NAV because the '15s tag on the PDR for an additional fee. It has been 10 weeks and really no firm, in my hands confirmation I am getting it. Dealer says that my deposit allowed me to be queued for a 2015. The Live Chat says my order has been accepted by GM, but the rep would not cough up an event code. Saw the ealer 2 weeks ago and he showed me the "Connect" screen. The GM Connect screen says I am still at 1100 after 8 weeks. Grrrr. This past week the salesman said their first 2015 is in transit and my 2015 wioll be the next one built for that dealer. He told me that is how dealer allocation works for them. They have to receive and sell a Vette before the next one will pull onto the production. He says it all moves pretty fast after that.

Yea right. :(

While that description is not totally accurate by the salesperson, it might end up being that way at that dealer. If they are only allotted a small number, then it is likely that they will have delivered their first before they get allotment for their second, even though the two events are not connected. As an example, a larger volume dealer could receive three or four pieces of allotment in a particular build cycle, and one piece in each of three or four consecutive build cycles, so that they have multiple cars in process at the same time.

Also, recognize that the very first 2015 orders that moved beyond 1100 were not until July 5, so if you knew you were second on their list, the expectation should certainly never have been that you would see your order move much before October...

As for how fast it moves once the order is picked up by GM, usually the build week is within about 3-5 weeks of the order moving, and then another two weeks to get it to the dealer. Fast is all relative, you see... :D

Ah, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba... Where mosquitoes are as big as chickens, and you can see tomorrow's weather by just looking west... ;-)

For the sake of discussion, if one does not get an allocation for a Z06 in Canada. How do you go about getting one in the USA? How much more do you have to pay?

The only way to get the allocation US side is with a US address. Even then, it appears as if they are all spoken for...or available with a premium fee from limited dealers.

If you have waited until now to get a Z06, you are going to have to be extremely

a) lucky
b) determined
c) luckier
d) incredibly lucky
e) pay through the nose
f) a through d
g) all of the above...

Ask Allflash, who was (f) and knows it... :D

Ummm. I know of a dealer this way that has purchased two guaranteed Z06 US allocations (as he told me earlier today). They come in to Canada new, but are classified as used vehicles. The first 12000 miles have no warranty in accordance with GM Import rules, but this dealership has sold several cars this way, and covers that period for warranty....but only through their dealership. I am also going to bit the cost to get one might be slightly higher all in all.

I don't stand behind this as any authority but to write what I have been told. If you are interested, I can put you in touch rocky yo.

I know of a dealership in GTA that purchased one of the 2014 C7's from US from an auction with under 1000 KM and used it as a test drive vehicle with other customers looking for new 2014's so they could sell more of them. Great idea I thought but unfortunately they didn't have a good record of selling at least 4 Corvettes in each of 2012 and 2013 so they didn't get any allocations for 2014 and thus resulted in many disappointed customers.

Contacted this morning by my salesman and he stated that they can now enter a build for the Z06, create and submit the order, and print off the worksheet. He also pointed out something I knew which was that there was no pricing but lots of time to make changes if necessary.

Looking like...

DSOM Z06 Coupe
Automatic (unless there are problems recognized which seems to be the thought)
2LT
Kalahari
Dual Carbon Stripe
Nav/PDR

Automatic? Why oh why would you do that??????

What colour are you ordering??

Orange and the automatic choice has many asking me exactly the same...

There are so many that believe Vettes should always be standard. Unfortunately, the wife will want to drive this and I can't afford the heartaches as she gets caught in traffic going through Toronto stop and start traffic, or up and down the Peace bridge in Buffalo when it is jammed.

I remember the first time she and I were going to the states on her bike and got jammed goin up the Peace Bridge. Her clutch wasnt set quite right and she couldnt keep it running...what a heartache it was at that time. I could envision similar with manual tranny.

About 70% of the Corvettes built have automatics. Really now a days the manual is the optional choice. By the end of the baby boomer generation automatics will probably be the only choice as it is in all most all cars sold today. Try getting a member of the Millennials to learn a manual. F1 , Indy car don't use manuals, it is becoming a throw back to the past for good reason. Most people drive in traffic, not on the track, most don't want to work a clutch and break combination, autos are fast, paddle shifting is normal in racing, automatics just have too many advantages.

Ordered a 2015 z51 in February after another dealership failed to get me a 2014 built.

No word yet, order not accepted at this time. Had some serious bad luck trying to get one of these c7's.
