So tomorrow we have to lift on a 15 ton cooler... ok no big deal

The truck showed up with the 5 ton skip we are placing the cooler in for transport 17km to the jetty. Then the crane will put the cooler in the skip. The truck will haul it with the cooler in it to the jetty and the same crane will place it on the boat which will sail it out to us. We grab the thing with one of the ship cranes... all routine and boring stuff.

Until you see how things are done here....

ya .... the truck can barely hold the empty skip. 15 more tons to go.
2 weeks planning and logistics... hold.

Sorry but I have to laugh a bit Derek... You are right. That truck is already on major tilt. Another 15 ton and he will be popping wheelies over every bump.... if he can move at all... Maybe putting a couple tons of chickens on the roof will help balance it out...and then you can have another BBQ.

Well in the end we got the 15 ton cooler onboard this morning. That’s after a bigger truck, dealing with the inadequate rigging the vendor sent for the skip the cooler was placed in. My cranes loadcell registered 19.2 tons when we picked it.
I had to keep a straight face and be super impressed as the guys did a really pro job managing the operation. But I’m used to 600 ton lifts... although not with these little cranes. I guess this was good practice.

600 tons !! Now that’s a pick. The crane operator must be just loving his job. That’s incredible Derek.

Where do we sign up for being a VIP on that ship?! I’d be all over that !!

Here’s a 1500 ton lift Mike. Ivory Coast in 2010.
Putting a new gas compressor package on the ship. Big V16 3500 HP Cat driver and 6 throw Ariel compressor.
It was a big lump to lift. These Scottish guys did an amazing job getting this and a few other big chunks on the ship. Not even a bump... it was very cool to be involved in this job.
