All the roads I have been on south of the 49th are a dream compared to MB's secondary roads. On my trip home from Moncton I was surprised how bad Quebec's roads are. And downtown Montreal is 4X4 country. Worse than Winnipeg! Never though I could say that. I swore I was never going to take my newly acquired Vette to Winnipeg and there I was bouncing around Montreal.

Downtown Calgary isn’t much to talk about. My car has been downtown twice since I’ve owned it. Mind you,I know the roads that are corvette friendly from my daily work travels and there isn’t many I drive my car on.

BC overall has nice roads. Washington State is fine as long as its a main road used too commute. Their highways in some places have some pot holes, etc.... Here in BC its law a city must balance its budget. They also can't borrow without approval of the neighboring cities. So we also have some nice roads that are fun to drive on. With Vancouver I'm surprised there is not a London type fee. Its not car friendly there. But that's closed roads and added "green" spaces, etc............

I believe both Merica and Canada are sliding down hill. The US is just further along then we are. Now if it wasn't seeking warmer weather. Id avoid crossing the border. I miss the no passports deal. Enhanced license here is complicated. But worth it to get old school almost waved into the USA............ We still win globally for education. But even here our colleges are also creating pre-school play grounds for students. The self driving car will obsolete pretty much everything we want in cars and "driving". Nanny state is now on our horizon......... Hawaii had drivers license at 14. So my parents got me and my brother learners permits and we did all the driving in vacation spring break 1986............. My older brother had his BC license. But I still drove around with our rental car for everything but our trip to Hanna. Dad drove that cause rental car was not allowed on that "road". My truck tells me the speed limit on the Nav screen, surprised it doesn't stop me from going over it

My shop is in Montreal, maybe you wont beleive me but many streets had been fix and are in way better shape compare to 6-7 years ago. I only take my car on the island for maintenance or to the car show at the ''Corvette plus store'' other wise I use highway and go around. Here we dont buckle the safety belt to avoid tickets, its only to stay on the seats. :)

BTW If someone need parts or accessories Corvette Plus store keep a huge inventory of new parts and are very knowledgeable, they shipp about everywhere

Corvette plus

I like Montreal, its somewhat Vancouver like in attitude. Hated driving there though off highway. But that was in around 1994 time frame that I was there. Had a VW Corrado VR6 with lowered suspension. So most roads not great for that car...........

I was surprised that it was more western Canada there Vs say Ontario and the Maritime provinces. Though in grocery stores I still turn products to their English side here. But Quebecor's got that joke.......Hence it was a tad Vancouver in vibe.

An interesting read thanks all.
I spent several hours on the internet last night and came to the conclusion that every manufacturer makes the best radar detector..
After reading a ton of top tens list Escort came out the winner, followed closely by Beltronics which happens to be a division of Escort. Redenso was another popular brand. Top of the line units are $2000.00 plus. I don't want to spend that much. Escort has a few reasonably priced units $300 - $500 that have radar, laser, with all bandwith detection So does Beltronics. I'm leaning towards a Escort Max HD review or X7.
I don't speed but it would be interesting to know where they're hiding out plus it's a gadget and I like gadgets.

yep right

My current radar detector which I've used now for many years is the Escort 9500ix (red) which has worked well and paid for itself many times over. It doesn't pick up everything and I should update it with a newer one that has the latest technology. It costs in the Can.$600+ range (plus taxes). For any detector you choose, I'd recommend dealing with a business who routinely sells them and carries a good variety and asking if your particular model ever goes on sale and if so, what the usual saving is. Then see if they'll give you the sale price right there and then. It's worked for me several times and I've saved $50+.

I've started looking at a detector which hasn't yet been released for sale but should be soon (?) and it's advertised as being on the cutting edge: the Radenso Theia. There's no pricing info yet and perhaps it will cost huge bucks compared to other detectors, so it'll be out of my price range. If you want more info on it, Ariel with "Vortex Radar" has done several reviews of the Radenso Theia. He touts himself as being a radar detector enthusiast and he reviews radar detectors made by different manufacturers. Here's one YouTube video he did on the it and he's done several others on the Theia:

I'd be happy to hear from anyone who recently purchased a detector and can tell us pricing and how it works, compared to your last one.
