I wonder how many Canadians have their cars defaulted to MPH.... Would make an interesting conversion to how long it's going to take to go somewhere.... 223 km and I'm averaging 52 miles per hour.... and 28 miles per gallon... and I just stopped for fuel and put in 63 litres of gas....o_O
For me, I am not going 223 km, I am going 138 miles. It doesn't matter how many liters of fuel I put in the car, the dash will tell me how many miles I can go on a full tank or at any time after that. Out here on the Prairies, there is nowhere exciting to drive, and not all, but a lot of the pavement is beat up bad, except for #1. So I go south where the roads are winding and smooth, and road signs are in miles if needed.

Not to mention the coming new standard of Furlongs/ Fortnight.

I found this......

Of all the countries in the world, only three backwaters still use the archaic Imperial system of weights and measures:
  • Liberia.
  • Myanmar (a.k.a. “the country formerly known as Burma”)
  • United States of America.

LOL.... this isn't nice but you have met me and known me for some time Graham, and maybe can appreciate my sense of humour (note the use of the letter u twice in humour).... But I digress...

I called a valve manufacturer in the US quite a few years ago and whilst he didn't have the information I needed at hand, he advised he would call me back in three hours. (Get ready).... So asked him if that was US hours or Canadian hours.....He didn't understand as he thought that US and Canadian hours were the same. So I took the high road and advised him that, much like numerous other weights and measures, and using the gallon as an example, our Canadian hour was longer than the US hour. We finally got it clear and arranged that he would call me in three US hours...... As I didn't purchase their valves and we never had much for further conversation, I purposely neglected to advise him that I was just jerking his chain.... I often wondered if he was still in the dark.... hours earlier than us..... LOL.... I'm guessing now with the invent of the internet that he probably has realized the deception..or not!. True story!

That may be true Murray.... I'm pretty sure he has caught on by now. Either that or there's a lot of his misinformed friends, family, and co-workers that now think Canada is both a frozen wasteland AND have a screwed up time system..... lol....

Hi Ruuff Day My old 1990 ZR-1 has a digital dash so can switch to either one. Generally keep on Metric so not to go over speed limit by much.

Agreed. Mine stays on metric. My C6 was an american car so the speedo dial was limited to 220 whether it was mph or switched to kph... So occasionally I did find it necessary to change it to mph.... On a closed track of course...:angelic:
