Lucky Me..........I get a New Knee

Well back home guys with some awesome pills to take care of the pain. I guess everyone recovers at a different rate. I plan on being faithful with my exercises ect so I'm hopeful I will recover well however doing the exercises doesn't guarantee a speedy recovery so I'm told. My mom had this done a couple years back was completely faithful with exercise paid for her own physio ect and it still took over a year for her to recover. I'm hopeful I'll heal much quicker. .

You are probably younger than your mom , that's a plus .:D

Need to know.................,more news of your recovery and ongoing journey of rehab etc. Caring members are interested. Please to post progression of further healthy progress.

Hi guys. Progress seems to be a bit slow with me but there is progress. Its two weeks today since I recieved my bionic part. Rehab began the same day as surgery with standing and taking one step about 6 hours after the new part was installed. 2 days later I was at home but on pretty heavy meds for pain. I was able to manage my pain and faithfully do my exercises during this tough week. In the past 3-4 days I've been cutting my pain meds down and haven't had to have any now for about 36 hours. I expect I'm done with the paid meds now and am feeling much stronger. I've only been out of the house twice (to get blood work done) and got exhausted both times so I know stamina is going to be a big thing for me yet. I get my 28 staples out tomorrow! Hoping this will help with my ROM. My head is clearer and my spirit is better the past couple of days. Thank you for your thoughts.

I will be joining you a week from Monday as I am hopefully getting 2 new knees! I am sure the pain is going to be something else but I have no choice as they are both in ver, very bad shape. Good luck with your recovery.

Glad to hear you're on the mend Somebody. Just take it one day at a time and soon you'll look back and see the progress you're making. :)

Hey SB !!!! glad to hear things are at least bearable .... Reducing pain meds is a good sign -- and that'll help clear the 'cobwebs' .....

Won't be long now that the bod will be in top form and the weather will be nice and you'll be cruisin' enjoying the spring.......

Keep us in the loop and continued good rehab. We're all thinking about you.

Colin.

Great to hear the positive news SB! Navion, getting that ZR1 is great motivation to get the knees back working! Best of luck!

If your looking for some exercise, My driveway probably needs shoveling by now.....

Heal up quick Buddy, Spring is coming...

Went for my quarterly check up the Dr. said I had the body functions of a 20 year old and the mind of a 90 year old .

Anyway I explained that I might need some cortisone shots for my hips because I could no longer get my socks on with the help of my dog .He wrote out an order for xrays and possible MRI if needed .Set me up with my favorite specialist next week .My Dr.said that they can sometimes lubricate the hip socket with a simple injection which might last 5-20 years . Sounds simple to me ,but I wonder if they use Mobil 1.

These issues that are being posted are very informative for us over the age of 60 .

i had my knee drained and a cortisone shot - didn't even last 3 weeks. finally have an appointment to see a surgeon on may 6. this is taking forever, about 5 years now. now the right leg is bad, pain starts to radiate up into the hip when in a certain position. and, wouldn't you know it, that's about 15-20 min into a drive in the shark.:swear:

cortisone does not work for everyone .I have shots in both shoulders 8 years ago an I'm still doing well .One thing I can say is that the injection has to be very precise and a lot of doctors aren't that good .Doctors are somewhat intimidated by me because I ask the questions no one dares to ask. Like: we're did you graduate in your class ,how many patients have you lost ,look me in the eye and tell me you've never cheated on an exam .If I'm satisfied I loosen my grip on his balls .

Do you know what product your having installed? Or put another way, who is the manufacturer of the new knee? Smith & Nephew?

I do not know who is the mfg. but it doesn't really matter to me because they have to be better than what I have right now. Is there something I should be aware of as far as knee replacements?
