In for Upgrades!!!

XPel. And the fact that I find cleaning the vehicle very relaxing. Some great work by John and we just spent the week in Carlisle...great time. Here is the link to piks...

I have Xpel on large portions of my new black z and it sure doesn't give the shiny depth that is clearly there with your colour. Man that looks good!
Plus I find cleaning the Xpel is challenging as it really grips the microfibre cloths wiping it down. Same experience on the black 13 and 15 Zs.
I'm not working in the sun but using just city water from the tap so I have to carefully wipe the black down or there is spots or streaks after. These are more difficult to get out of the Xpel. Maybe a wax over it will help?
Anyway your car looks great.

Ooops forgot to mention that I did a dual coat of cQuartz Finest two years back but, regularly, I ONLY use Blackfire Poly Quick Detailer or Waterless Wash...never wax. Blackfire was recommended as it is one of the only that is colorless on application and does not leave a buildup on the seams and edges over time.

Derek, one of the best investments I have made for car cleaning is the Master Blaster. Once the car is washed I do not have to touch it again, simply fire up the machine and blow dry the car. Gets water out of crevices, mirror housings and lots of places you just cannot get at with a towel. Less chance of any scratches or other damage. If it broke tomorrow I would buy another one.

I have seen Les' car many times and it looks perhaps better in person that the pictures show. Maybe Eric is right, there is a clone!!

It is warm air Les but not hot air for certain. Do you think hot air would damage the XPel?

I'm liking the blow drier idea as I've seen in a few times on YouTube. Some guys were using leaf blowers. Wasn't sure it would work as anything coming off the ground would be right back on the car.
The Xpel takes the heat on the hood ok and having a black car it gets pretty hot all over in the sun. So far I've never seen it lift and blow off anywhere from driving at or slightly above highway speeds.
However based on the way Les's car looks I'm paying close attention to this conversation.
And thanks for the tips on the products guys. I don't use any of this brands but am sure willing to try them. Master blaster... haha cool name.

Derek, I got my Master Blaster from Amazon US. I had it shipped to my friend in Michigan and brought it home from there. I watched the pricing for quite a while, it was odd one week really expensive then it would start to drop in price. I got mine when the price seemed to hit the bottom and they shipped it for free. It really does work well, you need a heavy extension cord for them, I think it draws a fair bit of power.

Murray I have cupboards full of products for the Corvette. I read and try with mixed results.
Like Les I enjoy cleaning my car and really appreciate the little details being perfect after.
The instant detailer is a great product and I have tried a few of them with overall good results. I've got this new black car that is flawless at the moment so I want to start off right and maintain the shine with out scrubbing the paint off.
It is so annoying finishing the car and going to the other side to look and seeing a long water streak from the mirror down the door or the frustration trying to get the water out of the glass connection groove at the bottom of the rear window on the C7. It just dawned on me that I could lift the back lid and run it out... :Banghead:
I'm looking forward to the day when I have a good understanding of what's right for my black car and a routine that delivers repeatedly great results.
On the bright side the Z is so much easier and more pleasing to clean than that freshly painted black H1 monstrosity. That thing almost does me in everytime I clean it. I need a stepladder and all kinds of paraphernalia to get all around it.... but it does use up the rejected Corvette products quickly.
I'm waiting for Les to give his take on the blowers and heat on the Xpel but the master blaster sounds like a win for cleaning the black Hummer at the very least.
