Kudos to Ontario and Newfoundland/Labrador for their offer to take Covid patients in the wake of Alberta's ever increasing hospitalization numbers. For the non-believers, please note this should not be taken as an Alberta government immigration conspiracy as these people are actually sick and our hospital ICU's are actually full. As of the past weekend we have 216 critical patients in ICU beds. Since we only have 173 ICU beds, what they call "surge" beds are being added almost daily but staff shortages limit the ability to offer adequate care as well. Many thanks for your offer and I hope things change here soon and we don't require your generosity and compassion. Since 91.2% of the potential patients in ICU that we may need to transfer are unvaccinated, if they do show up we would appreciate you sticking them with a dose while they are there  . Thanks again.

I don't know Rruuff. It might be NL trying to repatriate all their workers that went out there. LOL

Actually we don't have a lot of maritimers anymore since the economic crisis between job losses and the oil companies backing out of flying them back home for days off anymore. Some that moved here are still here but not like it was 5 years ago.

Earlier this month Alaska's largest hospital, Providence Alaska Medical Centre in Anchorage, activated its Crisis Standards of Care protocol, which gives the hospital the authority to, among other things, decide who will be given life-saving treatments when there isn't enough equipment or staff for everyone who needs it. Also happened in Idaho and Montana.

People aren't processing reality or are mathematically challenged (or both) , even at 85% vaccination rate that leaves nearly 6 MILLION people in Canada not vaccinated. Granted a lot of those are too young (around 1million) but 5 million people at current hospitalization rates means 100,000 potential hospitalizations. This will bury us all.

I have not been on this site and/or replied for a while, but now I can't hold back.
Yes the earth is flat.
Yes all news on the internet is true.
Yes scientists lie to make the companies that make the vaccines rich.
Yes the Covid 19 is only a scare and not really a true threat.
Yes I just got the BS news report that showed in Alberta today over 2000 new cases of covid.
Yes the hospital info on running out of beds and nurses being over worked must be wrong.
Yes if you don't want to get vaccinated, don't. Don't expect others to think this is a smart idea.
Yes, sometimes you can't fix stupid!!!!
Yes you can give your head a shake.
Yes you can have common sense.
Yes common sense is not that common.
Yes you can stick metal objects on you head after two vaccine shots.
Yes you can stick your head in the sand.
Yes I always considered Corvette owners to be a little wiser than others.
Yes you can do your part and stop covid by doing your part.
Yes either get the vaccine or stay home.
WTF guys
Absolutely incredible. Unvaccinated people will be hit harder than the unvaxxed, correct? You are more likely to be asymptomatic if you are vaxxed, correct? But yet still transmitting the virus, correct?
For example, tomorrow I will be attending a Celebration of Life with ~200 people. I will be providing a negative covid test before entry. There WILL MOST likely be vaccinated asymptomatic people there that will be transmitting the virus. I will not be.
If you're vaccinated, get tested weekly or stay home.
And btw, the WHO states that Ivermectin is a world essential medication that is used for a variety of illnesses. Do some simple research.

Won't bury us all but might bury a few million.
As long as you don't need a hospital you might be good. I know a few people awaiting surgeries now pushed down the road due to lack of resources including one in daily agony awaiting a back surgery. Been waiting months, looks to be waiting a lot longer. I'm surprised he isn't out in the street shooting anti-vaxx protesters.

Ivermectin is used for parasitic illnesses. The WHO also advise that Ivermectin is ONLY to be used in covid clinical trials. I am vaccinated but I also continue to wear a mask and practice social distancing whenever I am around other people, vaccinated or not. I will NOT be getting tested weekly nor staying home. My suggestion, if anyone is concerned that I may be asymptomatic and still able to transmit the virus, that they wear a mask, practice social distancing, AND get vaccinated. When there is no-one left in Canada to catch the virus, it will disappear as did Small Pox. Because of vaccination, the last case of small pox in Canada was a traveler who was infected with it in Brazil where many were not vaccinated. That was in 1962. Shortly thereafter, the Brazilian government began a vaccination program which then became mandatory and the disease was totally eradicated by 1973. Those not interested in small pox, look up Polio.

Today, the TGA, acting on the advice of the Advisory Committee for Medicines Scheduling, has placed new restrictions on the prescribing of oral ivermectin. General practitioners are now only able to prescribe ivermectin for TGA-approved conditions (indications) - scabies and certain parasitic infections. Certain specialists including infectious disease physicians, dermatologists, gastroenterologists and hepatologists (liver disease specialists) will be permitted to prescribe ivermectin for other unapproved indications if they believe it is appropriate for a particular patient.

These changes have been introduced because of concerns with the prescribing of oral ivermectin for the claimed prevention or treatment of COVID-19. Ivermectin is not approved for use in COVID-19 in Australia or in other developed countries, and its use by the general public for COVID-19 is currently strongly discouraged by the National COVID Clinical Evidence Taskforce, the World Health Organisation and the US Food and Drug Administration.

My sister in law has breast cancer and had surgery 2 days ago in Edmonton. They told her if she'd of had high blood pressure or any other medical problems, they would have cancelled the surgery as they do not have the room to keep surgery patients overnight. She went in at 6:30 am and was home by noon. Her husband is not a nurse....or at least he wasn't one before yesterday.

Hmmm. My brother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer approx 1 year ago. No delay at all for his 8hr Whipple procedure, here in Oakville. He also just had a hernia operation 2 weeks ago. in Oakville. No delays.

Some interesting numbers, however, you'll find many stories to state its not good for human use. Its incredible how much evidence there is to support it may be beneficial and warrants study, but instead CNN promotes only that its a only a horse dewormer. Watch the video of how they portraid Joe Rogan after he used it.

It's not CNN or any outlet. It's the FDA, CDC, Health Canada and others that have cautioned people not to self-prescribe or ingest Ivermectin as a COVID preventative drug due to the criminal amount of misinformation being broadcast. Just go to their respective sites and see for yourself. Similar situation (thankfully to a lesser extent) to what happened with bleach last year.

The issue is two fold:
1. People are going out and buying animal strength ivermectin which will definitely poison you best case as it's an over the counter drug used for animal deworming. That's definitely not for human use.
2. People were asking doctors for human strength scribs for Ivermectin as a COVID prophylaxis or worst, a preventative drug instead of a clinically trialed and proven vaccine. The science is definitely out on this. There are trials I believe, and limited usage, and maybe it can be used to treat Covid in future but the thought of taking a non-clinically proven drug to prevent COVID over a clinically proven and fully approved/rolled out vaccine is mind boggling.

Good for you and your brother. In Alberta the hospital ICU's are over full and they're flying patients out to other provinces. Not BC, SK, MB because they've all cancelled or postponed elective surgeries as they are on the edge of overflowing. Are you suggesting this is all made up? That there is no problem?

As many experts (people with education in the field beyond that of a google user) have pointed out it is impossible to test our way out of this thing. It only "ends" or more accurately abates/recedes when nearly everyone has been exposed and infected with the virus. The virus and it's variants only go away, cease transmission when it can no longer find a well of hosts. The point of vaccination therefore is to reduce or eliminate SYMPTOMS, not infection. So you're going to be exposed and infected at some time, no question. The aim of vaccination is to keep you out of the hospital, nothing more or less. And that it does very, very well as around 90% of the current hospitalizations are unvaccinated. Or do you also question that, claim conspiracy?

It only works on bacteria, not virus.

What is really interesting in your reference to "The role of Invermectine" above is the author's list of his licences and certifications. Don't bother to look them up. I cut and pasted them below. This is his own listing. For some reason he doesn't list himself as holding a medical degree - even though he might say he is an MD.
OH Well! I guess more fake news. Looks to me like he is in to marketing. Probably anything to earn some money.

No conspiricy here. The numbers at the hospitals vary. You believe what you've read. Good for you. I have spoken to quite a few that work in various hospitals. The feedback varies.
I'll start to follow government recommendations as soon as our leaders follow their own rules. Trudeau was maskless and rubbing shoulders with world leaders during the last summit meeting. And he was not fully vaccinated. He has not shut down the airports from the hotspots. His lockdowns are a joke. Its not a lockdown if you can drive 5 minutes into the next town.
80% of the people dying with covid are obese, yet nobody says a word. The WHO doesnt recommend vaccinating young teenagers, yet our government is advising that they get vaccinated.
Why doesnt the government have weekly antigen tests for everyone, so asymptomatic transmitters wont be infecting others and filling our hospitals? I literally just returned from Shoppers with a negative test that took 10 minutes. I dont have covid. Can you say the same? If not, stay home.
