Confession is good for the soul so here is mine.........

Good afternoon,

So seat covers dropped off, back from the dentist, 2 cavities and one temporary crown and $2100 later.............

For the sat covers I went with two rows:

744
RWHP

In 2 to 2 1/2 inch letter depending on space, yellow thread to match the seats!

They should be ready early next week...........

Cheers,

Garry

Good evening Colin,

I looked at the forecast for Cambridge and I almost did a double take and thought I was looking at the forecast for Peace River! I am so sorry to hear that the weather is not so nice in that neck of the woods too.

Off to Edmonton tomorrow I hope, the people I work for bought a new (used) truck and I hope to collect it and to nurse it home, possibly getting a trailer that we need for moving seed, plot equipment (Z06's!) if things coordinate out well.

Sort of worried as it is an ex-RCMP truck from the Feds. Lets hope after only 110,000 km for a 2008 they didn't trash it or drop it through a river/lake in the winter!

I'm looking forward to seeing how the seat covers turn out, sort of excited even! Minimum cost for a much needed splash of color in the interior.

So I take it you haven't been out laying blackies?? Do you go into the garage and blip the throttle just to keep the blood pumping??

Have you gone WOT yet??!! What was it like compared to the "pre" car?? I can't wait to do a cruise with you!

Cheers,

Garry

Hey Garry,
No chance to do much of anything yet. I have driven a few miles but very carefully on cold tires and pavement.
Very streetable and unnoticed for the most part save for a little whine (very little), but even at low levels of throttle I can tell there's some beans under the right foot and response is right there.
No full on application yet for obvious reasons but have high expectations and suspect that acceleration could be quite 'explosive' for lack of a better descriptive. :D -- Looking forward to finding out just how 'explosive'..

2000 to 6500 rpm should be quite spectacular and command full attention.

No change on the home front.

C.

i think i'm jealous of what you 2 have done. i'm pretty much stock, but still enjoy the ride. almost forgot, i can enjoy high performance on my son's z06. he has added a set on hp heads, cam headers. fun car to drive! now he's working on adding a turbo. Manny has been kind enough to help him find some of the parts he needed. and yes.......it's ........YELLOW!

Good evening,

So as usual thigns got out of control. I thought about going to run with the club in Peace River. So I got out of bed late and then decided to go for a quick walk just incase I changed my mind, so logged in 4 km. Came in, had an egg and decided I could still make it so put on my running gear and off I went. 7 of us in total. So then logged in another 12.8 km (longest distance in one go in three years!) at a 5:49 to 5:29 pace depending on the grade. Considering I ran my first 10 km back in 2008 at a 5:34 pace I was pretty happy and it shows the change of runnign with other people. The lady I ran with was pretty well dead back on with the pace I wanted to aim for. Heart rate a strong 156 to 163 again depending on grade. Lots of fun and I think if I have the chance I'll hit my 1st race in early May. At the rate the snow is (now) melting that should be only too possible!

Wow Colin I sure can't wait to hear what my car sounds like! A suble or not so subtle whine would be terrific to have!

bigneez, you obviously brought up your son well if his car is yellow! While you might be jealous of what we've done and while I can't speak for Colin I am afraid to total what the work cost me to date on the car. I'm sure I could have acquried a C5 vert or C5 Z06 for what I've invested! But you can't drive two cars at once and it is the experience of what DaSilva did to this car that I wanted to experience..........

Hopefully up to +8............in four days!

Cheers,

Garry

Good morning Everyone,

It seems like so long since I have posted to this thread.

The trip was beyond what should have been expected and I will add that to the appropriate link later on.

What I can say is how do you define if a trip/vacation was a great one or not? Besides the usual and in this case the car and people, for it is the fact that when I left I was actually down to 186 lb and I returned possibly at 185, I don't want to get too excited but need to see if it lasts more than two days! As well I was able to walk and run maybe 70 km in the four days including an evening with the terrific Cambridge Harriers Club and thus while my year to date average when I left was 9.37 km it is now 9.53 km! You can't pay to get those kinds of outcomes!

Still unpacking, answering messages and of course returning to parent mode and also having to rush off to Grande Prairie for work so it willb e a few days before I can do my trip write up. But on a personal note things are exceptionally fine with me and even the weather is cooperating and looking so fine, it was 18 above yesterday with a 50 km wind so there was a huge amount of melting and drying that took place while I was gone.

Cheers,

Garry

Looking forward to hearing all about your trip! Down to 185!!!!! That is great to hear Garry! Been following the trip in other threads and it seemed simply epic! Those are great results with your running average! Very nice!!!!

Good afternoon Riley,

Finally posted my trip story - whew that took a long time to type. I had to post it in two parts actually.

My first race is this Sunday, just 8 km. I did my "Race Sim" on Sunday in Peace River, ran a 5:04 pace while is my 2nd or 3rd fastest pace ever so I am very excited to try my myself under race conditions. I broke 5 min/km once back in 2008 and might have had another like 5:02 or something. I'd be estatic if I broke 5 min again or even had a personal best!

Weight, well, if you can imagine I was 183 this morning. Words fail me.

Cheers,

Garry

Awesome Garry! I'm sure you'll do very well in the race! 183!? Holy macaroni! Just don't keep dropping weight until you disappear!

What weight are you planning on dropping to? Where do you see yourself settling?

Good evening Riley,

Finally started with some farming activities yesterday. Perparation work but still it feels good to be moving in the direction of seeding. My gf is coming over tonight and we're going to enjoy the nice weather by taking a few soil samples. Always important to start slow before trying to go full tilt.

My weight goal.....? Well, to be honest Riley I had chosen a weight of 180, but it was very arbitrary. I had been 189 for a day the second time I lost weight the conventional way so for whatever reason I chose 180 this time. No reason, no chart, no Dr. recommendation, just a value chosen out of my head.

I think that I'll see how 180 goes but really don't have much interest or desire to go below that. I mean I think that I'm looking good right now and I feel fantastic too so the point in losing more weight may not be that justified.

I'll see how my 1st race goes this weekend and how fatigued I am and then maybe try the next race on the 26th of May I think it is, 10 km this time.

I can't recommend the surgery enough to people that would like to be done once and for all struggling with their weight. My gf has lost 69 lb now and mom about 45. I saw my mom in town yesterday in better fitting pants/top than she normally would have worn in the old days and dad better start watching out for guys coming after her now! Mom actually surprised me by telling me that Dad told her how good she was looking recently. It made mom feel pretty good about the path she chose to take.

Cheers,

Garry

So, my 1st race was on Sunday past. It was a great day, about 340 runners and walkers in 6 different categories, 5, 8 and 16 km distances, walk or run. I went into the 8 km run. I have to admit that I was again troubled by my finish, as 5 people passed me during the race including two about 1.25 km from the end.

But I finished with my 2nd fastest pace ever, 5:01 for a overall time of 40:07. I was 2nd in my division of 7 (men 40-49) and 27th of 136 8 km runners overall. Best part was getting a placement medal for my 1st race back in three plus years.

Super to meet up with a few people I had not run with since the winter of 2008 and the most interesting part was meeting a girl I went to high school with (a grade behind me) that I had not seen in 30 years!

My next race I can run will be next Sunday but I am unsure if seeding will allow me to go as it is badly behind schedule. But if I can teach onoe of the guys helping us this spring I will go.

I sure miss my car so I hope it will be on its way soon, the weather is so great right now that even a 10 to 15 minute daily drive would be huge for my state of mind improving.

I'll see about getting some pictures posted, perhaps with Colins help once again!

Sure miss reading the threads on the form and hope to start to include this in my daily life again.

Hope everyone is able to get many miles of driving in........

Cheers,

Garry

Good morning,

Well the start of seeding was a disaster in a few ways but there is still seed in the ground. And with rain forecast for tomorrow I hope to get the field I started yesterday done and moved to a new field - and then hope that the forecast is wrong!

I am starting to be concerned about my weight though. It was always a fear that you get into a mindset that you still feel overweight once you've reached your goal. In my case having hit 180 and then this morning blown right past that to 176 lb gives me pause for reflective thought. I am getting sort of bony now and am not sure if I have gone beyond what would be good for me. And of course I am highly aware of being anorexic as well and developing a real phobia of food and a negative self-image of being overweight still.

I still need to take a scale picture though, I never thought I'd be at this weight ever in my life.

But I am aware of this situation that can happen when you lose weight and as well have also discussed it with famaily and friends months ago so I expect to be fully grounded in the situation and that they will give me the necessary beeotch-slapping if need be.

I think enough is enough for now. Bring on the chocolate covered almonds!

Off to walk, then to seed..............

Cheers,

Garry

Garry, it's always good to be aware of the direction in which your weight is headed (up or down). Given the personal journey that you've taken it's even more important. I'm sure it's just a matter of your body readjusting. Once it does you shpuld level out. Food isn't evil by any means. It's all about balance. The fact that you are an avid runner will always work with you on expending calories. Weight training will help you to develop muscles and pack on "good" weight. A lesson that I have been teaching my girlfriend as she is a runner too. Best of luck and enjoy those chocolate covered almonds.

Good morning Justin,

I made the big mistake of saying after starting seeding on Sunday that things couldn't be worse, oh how wrong I was! Yesterday was almost a day I would rate as a disaster. My seeding rate started to creep and I thought it might be a monitor error as with some functions like fan speed I know it gives an incorrect reading. But it turned out to be correct so not only did I overseed an area but I also ran out of seed at one point. That probably cost me $4K. Then my real blunder, ignoring some hindsight clues for about 100 acres only 1/2 the drill was applying seed and fertilizer, the other 1/2 was plugged. Even upon discovering this we have not been able to find the problem and it continues to be happenening, so I'm going to have some huge blanks in the field. I can reseed them once the rest of the crop emerges so I can see exactly the missed areas but we are seeding late as it is and this crop will really be behind so I'll need a break with when the frost arrives, so this could be a $30K hit. I finished the field and got the drill back to the farm but no doubt the toughest start to a spring I can remember.

I gave thanks that everything else in my life is so darn good that this is just a minor event and something that I will recvoer from.

I think that part of my problem was picking a number for my weight without really giving much thought to what a realistic goal might be. Maybe it could be 170, maybe it ought to be 190. I think that this is something I will discover. Even after how sick I was Sunday night I still put in my day and was never tired or falling alseep. I think it is good that I am aware of this position regarding weight and have also discussed it at length with those closest to me and that they will be riding shotgun on this with me.

I have registered for my next race but have done zippo training for it so I might be going into it blind but either way it will be fun. Even my son wants me to enter him in the 3 km kids division but as this is when he is with his mom I'll have to ask her if that is OK.

It was just thundering rain, so hard it woke me up (3:30 am here) but on the plus side it will give me a break from seeding and a chance to think about what might be wrong with the drill without feeling the pressure of actually being out there. But hopefully I can be back within 24 hours and we can hit is hard.

And yes, I do intend to enjoy my chocolate covered almonds!

Cheers,

Garry

Hi Garry,
I believe that as you continue with your healthy lifestyle your weight will sort itself out on it's own. When I was told to lose weight I was given 152 as a target. Well it turns out that 142 seems to be where I ended up. I am hoping to add more muscle which will give me a bit more weight and tone things up.

As for the farming, it certainly isn't for sissies is it? Now get back to those almonds :)

Gooooooooooooood Morning Garry!

176lb is incredible. I don't see anything wrong with 176 as long as you don't feel tired and are recovering from your runs and walks in a timely manner. Glad you have some people watching over you to let you know if you are getting too thin. I'm sure you are aware of your calories burnt vs calories consumed and can adjust your food intake to suit the weight you would like to stay at.

My exercising program has been frustrating. My bicep tendon is still giving me issues and keeping me from being able to maintain a constant program. My fitness instructor has given me a few stretches to do and I hope this helps. To aid in a healthier lifestyle I am not drinking as much coke as I just to and have really cut down on the sugar free rock stars and taken to drinking more "water" (using crystal light to make the change). To keep up with exercising, I started biking to work. It only takes 15 -20 minutes to bike but it's better than nothing and I hope this can be a start to getting back out on the trails. Plus with gas at 1.30 a liter for the normal car and 1.43 for the fun car, anything helps to cut costs!...plus I don't have to feel guilty when going out for a non specific drive!

The Corvette is doing really well, enjoying every minute of driving it. Only problem is my service active handling/traction control is coming up a lot now. I have to pull the codes and see what is going on but as long as I can still drive, I am happy!

i'm no expert but it may be a wheel sensor, which just happens to be in the wheel bearing. not sure how much that would be. Garry, good luck on the farm, and as for weight, try to stay where you feel good, both strength wise, as well as speed and endurance. haha sound advice from a guy who struggles with weight issues. take care, how to eventually meet you somewhere. ps i'm headed to the black hills corvette classic in spearfish in july.
