As an Air Force brat growing up on base during the cold war, I had an understanding and a deep reverence for the pure guts and courage that men like Yeager had. Even in that class, Brigadier General Yeager stood heads above the rest. The world is unlikely to see his kind again. May he Rest Peacefully.

Is it just me and getting more blind or is the P47 Thunderbolt missing from that list? I would say it was more important in the war than the two French planes. And that list tends to be the more of the heavy hitters of the war on all sides.

Since those are all B25 Mitchells on that flight deck... I wonder if it is the Doolittle raid on Tokyo making its way towards Japan (?).
