A bomber’s ball turret position is often looked at with fear in ones eyes, being suspended underneath a bomber with 30,000 ft between you and the ground. The turret was a small, cramped place to be, often operated by the smallest men available.

The Sikorsky CH-54 Tarhe is a twin-engine heavy-lift helicopter designed by Sikorsky Aircraft for the United States Army. It is named after Tarhe (whose nickname was "The Crane"), an 18th-century chief of the Wyandot Indian tribe. The civil version is the S-64 Skycrane.

Captain Reino Turkki (5 victories on Morane-Saulnier 406) got to the receiving end against the Airacobras in aerial combat. Normally a 37 mm shell would have disintegrated any aircraft, but the flimsy construction of MS saved him - the shells merely tore the fabric off the rear fuselage.
