Chevrolet's First V8

I've seen that motor (at the museum). Quite an achievement in its day.

very interesting, fifteen years ahead of ford's flathead V8. makes you wonder what it might have developed into had it remained in production.

the fledgling auto industry certainly had some interesting stuff, some things making it to production, some not. briggs and stratton produced a car from 1919 - 1925. the car sold for 125 - 150 dollars. briggs deemed it more profitable to just manufacture engines and started to produce the fore runner of what we have on our power equipment today.

Very cool! 36 hp out of a 288. I wonder if they ever thought in less than 100 years, Chevy would make a production 638 hp V-8!.... I wonder what the next 100 years will bring.

the corvette of it's day must have been the 1935 auburn boattail speedster. two seater, supercharged inline flathead eight, aluminum cyl. head. 4.5 litre, 150 hp @ 4000 rpm.
