C4 LSX Swap

Never noticed that 4 inch pipe sticking out the back before Dalen. Sort of gives one the not stock feeling... lol... Then they see under the hood and know for sure.... lol...

When you have to pull the transmission to replace a o-ring . Had the car down in Lethbridge on the dyno, and blew this o-ring on the hydraulic release bearing, shutting me down. Apparently I been smashing the clutch pedal to hard and over extended the bearing, causing the problem. No video or photos of the car on the dyno, but it came a long ways . Found what’s causing my random lean fuel issues, and got lots of drivability issues fixed. Made 614whp on the second pull , and probably a little more in it, when I get the car back together and back on the dyno

Wow. That's a great number Dalen given our altitude. At sea level you'd be closer to 675.

Photo Drop!!

Getting Ready for Miles of Mayhem Drag week!!
Medicine Hat >Saskatoon > Forestburg > Rimbey > back to Medicine Hat
1700km
Been busy past couple of weeks! Hitch for the C4, needed beefed up to handle the extra tongue weight (only rated for 200lbs) to haul the tires in the cargo basket. C4 corvette hatch vent built (looks rough but works). Swapped back to flip ups, got a new cover and I painted to match. Also been helping a buddy out that went from 5.3L & PowerGlide to 6.0L and 4l80e swap, and wire the Holley Terminator Max.
Going to be a fun trip with a 200 cool cars !!

A long week at Mikes of Mayhem! 5-Track events in 5 days at 4 tracks stretching across Alberta & Saskatchewan, over 1700 km of driving between tracks in +35 degree temperatures, with no A/C, stopping at check points. I decided to run 7.50 class, not the manual transmission class. 7.50 was a bracket class with closest to 7.50 + reaction time average over the week .

Day 0 - Started by trailering down to Medicine Hat, unloading and tech and test runs on Sunday.

Day 1 - Medicine Hat, ended up with a first good pass, bad reaction time, but decided to take it and get on the road. We packed up and headed off to Saskatoon. Having valve train noise rolling into Swift Current, where we had rocker arm troubles . Patched it together, finishing the drive to the hotel. Found some parts in Saskatoon and repaired with used stock Ls parts.

Day 2 - Raced in Saskatoon, ended up doing 2 passes because my first was to fast, handed in a 7.6 slip, Then drove off to Hardisty no issues, other than unbearable cab temperatures in the +35 degree heat!

Day 3 - Drove the rest of the way to Forestburg did a one and done pass 7.7. Drove to Rimbey then back to Red Deer for the night, instead of a hotel

Day 4 - Drove back to Rimbey in the early morning then raced, 7.509 pass perfect for 7.50 class, handed in the slip and Headed to Medicine Hat

Day 5 - Got to the track, to fast on the first 2 passes, 3rd pass ran a 7.500 with a red light Ended up getting a 7.6 handed the slip in.
My passenger/crew for the trip got some good videos and photos lifting a tire on my 7.31 at 103mph pass .

It is by far the longest week ever!! Hot temperatures, hours of driving, beating on your car on tracks, just trying to survive and make it to the next track. I went very easy this year on the car, not trying to get the best run, instead just easy launches keeping the axles and u-joints together shooting for 7.50. But what a blast!! Met some good people and seen some cool rides .

Going to post videos later.

Beware that diaphragm clutch. Maybe they are different now, but I blew our little mighty mouse motor (288 cubic inch) when shifting at 9,500 rpm the weight of the fingers under centrifugal force overrode the spring function and I missed the one/two shift. Thought I had blown a synchro and tried for third gear but it was too late and that was it - threw an aluminum con rod and wrecked a very expensive engine. Only thing salvageable was the Hilborn injection on top. Of course this was before engine rev limiters so unless it has changed don't do full power shifts at high RPM !!!!!

Haven’t posted in a while. Here my latest problem . Went to the season last track event, I installed a 2-step so I can leave under some boost. Well it didn’t go so well . Let the clutch out to fast on a well prep track spooled up on the turbo, breaking a wheel hub, and 3 u-joints !! The stock C4 drivetrain is not holding the power, only reason it lasted as long as it did, is because I really baby it with lots of clutch slip on the launch. With end of the year trying to get into the 10’s I got a little to greedy . Time to build better, and safer with a roll bar so I can be 10.00 legal. My favourite part of winter, garage projects

Firstly, nice car in a nice colour. Pretty rare to see really. dbm just dont see them often.

im sure you are on cf, there is a pile of guys who have thier c4’s doing wheelies so im guessing you can ask them for notes!

ive ran my 91 zr-1 a couple times on the radtorque dragstrip. Funtimes. I suck at it and was there for the road track but it was rreeaallllly fun to run the dragstrip.

thnx for the video.
