Anyone Else Fascinated By Old Locomotives?

The race is on...

This brings back enjoyment for my Wife racing an Amtrak in Montana on the way back from Meet-in-the-Middle.
Here's the photo as we came up on it ... and the race was ON for her ... straight rail and a straight open road
It was funny seeing passenger taking photos of us as we accelerated along the rail cars - they had to have seen my grin.
About 20 kms up the road the train passed us again as we stopped for fuel
(almost curious if it would be the same road as it appears rather similar in places)

I’ve watched quite a few YouTube vids featuring the “Empire Builder” route which this is. Sadly have yet to see any footage of rogue Canadian Corvettes keeping pace. I keep looking though as I’m thinking, someone on that train has video and it’s on YT. Lol. Hopefully I come across something someday.

Love to have this piece of artwork hanging in the living room. Howard Fogg was a very talented artist.

The 20th Century Limited with New York Central's Hudson and Pennsylvania Railroad's Broadway Limited with a K4 Pacific during their great daily race through Chicago's Southside around 1930, a painting by Howard Fogg (coll. Heribert Schroepfer)

Way back on page 1 Le Baron said these steam engines scared the $%#* out of him when he was a kid. This pic perhaps explains why. Some of these locomotives are massive...

This looks like the one at the Heritage Park entrance.

I’ve been wanting to make a vid of it for you guys but the 14 st/Heritage Drive/90 ave/Southland drive area is one massive construction zone. There’s so much construction material and noise all the time right near both the engine and an old Caboose on the south side of the HP entrance it wouldn’t be very good quaility.

Hopefully later this summer I can get something on vid.

For those in the Alberta area this is a neat way to spend a day. I have been on it a couple of times but not for quite a few years. Might make a day cruise idea perhaps in the future for CCF..

Same here Pep. About 10/12 years ago,my Ex and my folks did one of the murder mystery rides. It was fun. Mind you I spent more time looking out the window and walking through the cars than following the murder story. The buffet was pretty good.

I just browsed most of that link. There’s quite a few choices throughout the summer. For those of us giving out Hot wheels Corvettes,,,,load up your cubby. Kids a plenty will be at any given tour safe to say.
