When I was into RC aircraft in a big way, I saw a lot of these home built type of engines; although most were radials or horizontal cylinder design. Today with all the technology that is around it is not at all uncommon to see big model airplanes with 7 or even 9 cylinder engines. And yes four strokes. Electronic ignitions are available.

Great find Peter.I had a little one when I was a kid but it was plastic and didn't fire - just see-thru. Very cool.
