Replacing the Water Pump gaskets, C5

There was a screw up on my order to purchase cable operated hose clamp pliers which leads to a question:

Is there enough give on the hoses on the water pump so I can just remove the bolts and move it ahead to get the old gaskets out and put the new ones in or do I need to take off all the hoses and remove the water pump?

i'm not familiar with the c5 layout riley, but wouldn't that make it awfully tough to clean the surfaces and align the new gaskets ?

I would have to agree. I don't like the idea but the question was asked of me. I think I am just going to wait so I can take everything apart, then I'll be confident of a correct repair.

That is really interesting Manny. I've always wondered about the lifespan of an electric water pump. Is this out of the ordinary or do the electric ones have a shorter life? I would assume not as the pump is the same, it's just powered by an electric motor and those should last a pretty long time.......
