Random Pictures You Took

Agreed Bill. There are some wonderful things out there that are just waiting for us to take in their beauty.... Here's a couple more shots I took while out last week. Sometimes these animals are my food but more often they are the wonders of the world that make me smile....

This whitetail knew I was there but had no idea what I was. he finally grew wary of me and took off....none the worse for his mistake....

Then there was this big ole girl who also took a chance looking at me.... Luckily I was more intent on pictures than filling the freezer...

Then of course there is the feral horse population. We have numerous roaming herds of feral horses that roam the western foothills country. This was a mare and her yearling. Beautiful animals but don't get between the stallion and his harem.....He was watching us intently from a distance.

Great shots Eric. One needs to be very cautious of Moose as well. They can be unpredictable and nasty when they have not had a good day.

Really like the horse picture, composed very well.

Thanks Murray. My buddy got run over by a moose many years back when he got between her and her calf. You are exactly right and I am always wary. I think this one realized I was carrying a gun though. Does give me a distinct advantage. Plus these shots look like I was within a few feet of these animals which was not the case. The joy of a good zoom lens....lol....

And yes. Those feral horses were quite accommodating. When I got the camera ready I just told them on my mark to both step, left leg forward .... :p

Got out hunting today. First day of the season in the zone around my farm.... Won't go into detail but had a good day....here's a couple of pictures of some local wildlife that posed for me and the camera....

Wily Coyote..... Ok ... maybe this guy wasn't so wily but in this instance it was no harm, no foul.... Actually when they are in good shape and not eating my cats, a coyote is not a bad looking animal.... Ok Eric.... shake that thought off...lol...

Great shots Eric, thanks for sharing them.

It's that time of year when I'm taking more pictures.... Today's sunrise was spectacular... unfortunately I was already in the City before the sun started coming up.... And then there was the Mule deer yesterday following his woman obediently down the sidewalk. It looks to me like it's that time of year when ( to quote a well respected member), he just ...."tucks his balls back into her purse..." and does exactly as she tells him.... You can almost read that in this boys gait and posture....." If I'm really nice.... maybe....just maybe....".... :D

This picture has no artificial adjustment either....

A gasser in the works? Nice find.

We tried all summer to get away with our Grand Daughter and it just never worked out. So this past weekend we took her to Niagara On The Lake and Niagara Falls, she had never seen the falls before and the Christmas Light show is on now. So off we went and had a great weekend with her, my goodness she never stops talking!

Took her to the Butterfly Conservatory, she was amazed at the thousands of them fluttering around. They are hard to photograph, not that they move fast but more that they are just always on the move.

Back to the Niagara River. Controlled kayos fishing for salmon. The boats power up the river against a strong current then float back down. All happens in a big oval. Fascinating to watch everyone seemed to take their proper turn. Beautiful day.

But what she really wanted to see was the mayhem of the Falls. My dad told me the story of this barge when I was I kid, true or not I do not know. The story was the barge broke away from the tow and drifted towards the falls with men on it trying to scuttle it with valves. Supposedly their hair turned white with fright. When the barge stopped it was about 500 feet from the edge of the Falls. His story and I am sticking to it but the barge has been there for a long time.

She wondered if she could try this barrel out. The Hill family who probably went over the falls more than any other family, some survived, most did not. We suggested it was not a good idea.

This is the Horseshoe Rapid's Cable Car…..there is a fairly recent story here but I don't want to go to the Penalty Box so it will not be repeated.:Nono1:

Lots of odd things went on at the Falls since it became a tourist attraction. One time they got a barge filled it with every type of animal they could find. Charged people a fee to view and sent it over the falls. Yikes. Cruel or what.

Best thing to go past the falls was 30 or so Corvettes rolling down the main street on one of Stan's Niagara Cruises.:Cheers2:

Wow Rob, great find. Interesting reading and strange that the Hill family the barrel and these two wrecks are tied together.

Thanks for posting the article Rob. I guess my Dad's memory was a little off but still pretty accurate after all these years. I am glad I posted the picture. Like that guy on the radio use to say "And now you know the rest of the story".
