Question

So it was you who had the tinted windshield! Man, I thought I was starting to get early dementia or something and forgetful.
Yea but this was like 2 years ago ... took it off basically as soon as I tried it ... and I have never mentioned it here ... when I go to car shows especially at Pine Valley and 7 a good number of Vettes have the front glass tinted.

Maybe they are daytime drivers only :p

Alright, then my dementia has made me clairvoyant and I could see you with a tinted windshield!

Have no idea about the science behind it but I doubt that having the side windows tinted would affect forward vision ... sunglasses or not .:D
It's so others can see your face and your intentions. So pedestrians and other drives can see whether you see them etc.

Which is exactly why it will be a heck of a long time before we see fully self driving vehicles. As you motion to the other driver, you go ahead and they motion, no , you go ahead. Four way stops as well as especially crowded parking lots. If people think that their commute is long now…..

Now there is something I had not thought of. Is it possible that if 4 self drive vehicles arrive at a 4 way stop at the same time do they all just grind to a halt? Yeah gridlock!

No, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way, the car on the right has the right of way,

At a four way stop each vehicle has a car to their right , lol . I believe the rule of thumb is first car to arrive is the first car to leave, is it not ? If all four arrive at the exact same time most drivers don’t know when to get off the pot .

Correct. The car on the right. lol. If 4 stop at the same time usually the most aggressive driver has the right of way. I usually just wait until my bladder is full!

Agree, and is there then a logarithm that will let an autonomous vehicle figure it out?

It could probably tell to the millisecond which vehicle arrived first
Likely, but it could still be a 4 way tie. I still think there would be other things at play as long as they weren't all the same Tesla model and year and program version.
Then it could be a timeout. If they sit with no car moving for a defined period of time, one with the shorter timeout might inch forward. If no car advances then it goes through and the standoff is removed. The car on the right goes next.
If all cars are the same then there would be a written agreement that the car on the north side goes first. There must be some sort of handshaking written into the programming. Smarter people than I must have thought of this stuff.

Since this thread is labelled "Question" there's a lot of leeway for various tangent direction. With that, I will ask one. :angelic:

What is the speed under full acceleration that the C8 reaches at redline in each gear. I know what it in the C7 manual trans so just curious.
