Don’t worry, the rest of us send enough in transfer payments that surely the government will cover it for you…..;)

Not sure that is how it works. 🤔

1205$ per year! Lux taxes, cylinder taxes, bunch of f en thieves!
Absolute theft . I believe I paid $42.00 with the seniors discount. In the NWT you are considered a senior at 60 . I was kind of kidding about the transfer payment comment. What the heck is a cylinder tax ? Does that mean that if you have a pure electric you don’t pay that ? My guess would be that along with the highest rebate on EV’s other than BC it’s another incentive to get people to switch. What do you pay per KWH in Quebec ?
Here we pay 35 cents which as you can imagine is no incentive to convert along with the fact that at -40c EV’s are pretty well useless.

Wife pays 200$ a year for her EV. I got your joke, don't worry 😉.

Oh, sorry, no $35. initial registration and 0 from then on.
So you put your cars on the road and when you renew your license plate ie , registration it is free!

YEP! Especially the last part
QC beat JT to the punch with the lux tax. It does comes down (slowly) though as the car depreciates in value - as per the govn ratings. This is not a "one off". It is every year
The bar is pretty low at anything over $40K Basically if you want anything more than four wheels, and engine, body and seats you are rich.
How does that go? The rich can afford to pay more in tax.
Displacement tax (not cylinders) is another one to encourage smaller vehicles - read supposedly more fuel efficient . Not true but it was another way to get more money out of your pocket and in to theirs while sugar coating it as an environmental initiative.
The only rate drop was on my drivers license this year. Only $26. That is with no demerit points. The gods must be smiling on me as my cars do not seems to be able to hold the limit - dependent on the route. I don't know why but more curves seems to equate to higher (over the limit) speeds. Sometimes on straight sections as well when someone is only going the speed limit. LOL It does seem to be able to hold back when there is oncoming traffic though. Luckily!
Car seems to be able to differentiate between city/highway driving as it pretty well holds the limit in cities.
As far as I am concerned it doesn't matter who is in power. Libs, Cons, Ndp, Greens or anyone else. THEY ALL WANT MORE OF YOUR MONEY so they can happily flitter it away.

Alberta = 84.45$ Nova Scotia= 80.15$ New Brunswick=61$ to 189.$ Ontario=120$ NWT=90$ etc. I guess the other Quebecers here, are way to ashamed to post, the amount here. ;) :) As for my permit , sure 26$ Fees for lux, fees for 8 cylinders, fees for the amount paid and worth of the car=995$. F. U. Quebec. Liberals or PQ started this but CAQ should of fixed this abuse.

Ontario removed license plate renewal fees in 2022, retroactive to 2020 (everyone got rebates for the two prior years).

Hold on a second, Quebec owner here. The registration fee also includes the cost of the public liability insurance. Overall it cost me less in car insurance and registration in Quebec then It did when I was living in Toronto. Also the car is stored November to May and they reimbursed me half the registration every year.

Storage sure, I do it also and you do get about 70% back but read your bill. Insurance fee is 66$ registration is 133$ the rest is bull.... So if I did a Jack, I pay 100$/month, to ride on garbage roads!

I know Ontario s insurance are high but I saw some here that paid a descent amount. It depends where you live etc , when it comes to private insurance.
