Quebec registration

The QC "luxury" tax (over $40K - LOL) is still there and depending on value or date of purchase goes to 7 years. So a $200K "luxury" vehicle gets to support the government with an extra $1,600 in to the govn. coffers. This diminishes every year until you get to $40K. Doubt that a $200K vehicle would go that low even in 7 yrs.
The SAAQ gives you a description of what is considered a "luxury" vehicle.
Didn't read the fine print but I think a $200K pickup truck is exempt.
HMMM! Maybe Corvette needs to reclassify to the truck category.

Based on fed lux tax but totally provincial; otherwise we’d all be paying it.

Registration is purely provincial.
You mean to tell me, only in Quebec, we pay this? Wtf, so why us and nobody else, if it is fed . So they are lying to us to cover up a new abusive tax. I knew registration was provincial but I also knew our king was imposing himself on lots of provincial matters! So the Quebec staff has been told to lie to us,wow.

I read all that but I figured let s get it from the horses mouth.

We could of saved lots of time, discussion on this subject, if one of you out outside Québec would of said, you do not pay this lux tax on registration.
As far as I know only BC and QC have provincial "luxury" taxes.
We all get to pay JT's tax though.

That s my point. I would of known right away, that Quebec is calling it a fed tax but is not because nobody else pays it.;)
It states right on the SAAQ site that it is a QC tax and that JT's tax is on top of that.
Or maybe even QC taxes the JT tax. It is not above them as that is what they do with the QST. Your purchased item has the Gouge and Screw Tax added and then the PST on top of that. Gives them a little extra to squander.
Obviously whoever you talked to doesn't know what they are talking about.

I get the feeling, they were told to deny, deny, deny or call it lie. She even told me I will ask my supervisor ! Then came back , it will take a while because of lunch hours , vacations etc. No problem , I know whom, not to vote for, next time. Politics is getting really low , when you cannot own up to your decision making without lying right to my face, sort of.

Time for more separation talks! ;)
