OBD Port Lock

A Google search on obd locking device returns a whole bunch of devices that block the port mechanically, so the would be thieves can't plug any device into it. All OBD ports use a standard connector, so I would think these devices would work on the C8 as well as any other car.

I suspect if a thief finds the port locked this way, he's just going to look for an easier target.
The only thing all these "locks" do is cost time to the would be thief. And as time is of the essence it may deter them. I use a "visible" steering wheel lock (yellow of course) which may cause the thief to think that my car might be a bit of a problem and leave it alone.
Still say a kill button on the power line to the starter solenoid is the best. NO START, NO GO

I have experienced the OEM anti theft on my 2017 Grand Sport twice. I was the thief in both cases, but the security system decided my car was being stolen. The first time was when I was jacking the car up at each corner and turning the steering tp clean the wheels for a car show. The second time was parking and locking the car with the convertible top not cycle not totally completed. Once the anti theft program has initialized it is not only impossible to start the car, but you cannot open any doors or trunk except manually with the key through the trunk. When mine locked up you cannot even load it on a flayed because you cannot get the car out of gear and especially if the front wheels are turned.
Here is an FYI that the manual nor the dealers do not tell you how to start the car. Open the trunk with your key above the licence plate, pull the cable to open the door, press the start button for 15 seconds with your foot NOT on the brake pedal. he displays should all come up. Now put your foot on the brake pedal and press "start". Voila your car will start, Now when you drive the car your display will tell you " Service theft alarm". I erased all my error codes but the theft alert remained so I ignored this for about 100 km and it finally went away. Saves bill bill at Chevy dealer.

I agree. However the locks look like standard T7 torx bits just like the screws holding on the front fender extensions on my C7 GS. Maybe they are a different size but your tool box, or the thief's pocket, should have the entire set.....lol
But a thief is far less likely to take the time to remove it, especially if they broke the window and the alarm is going off. They want to move quickly; the more time it takes to steal a car the more likely they are to get caught.
 
I have seen a couple of articles on theft of high end vehicles by plugging electronic device into the OBD port and then setting up a new key for the vehicle, which the auto thief then uses to start the vehicle and drive it away. There are OBD port locking devices for many vehicles, but I cannot find any that are specifically for Chevy or Corvette. Has anyone found a good OBD port locking device for a C8? I purchased this port lock from Amazon. It fits my C7 and my C8. It's pretty expensive but I decided to get one made out of metal in lieu of cheaper versions which are plastic.

Here’s an inexpensive idea. I just replaced the two 7mm bolts holding OBD port on with security screws. Turn the port around backwards so the plug is facing into the bracket. Although not impossible, It would be time consuming and a pain to get at it. I know because every time my car goes in for service, I have to turn it around. Cover your VIN with a piece of black cardboard too. I spent my security money on a couple of air pods hidden in the car. (Two can play that game). Car goes in the garage with a club on the steering wheel and a junker parked in front of the garage every night.

That’s great for the c7.
Now tell us how to do this on the C8 :)
