Hey guys!

Brand new to the forum here I signed up because I'm looking for some sound advice. I just started a new job and I promised myself when I was making good money I would buy myself a 'vette.

There's nothing half decent in my province, and I'm sure this has been posted a hundred times. But I'm so seeing if anybody could give me advice on the best bang for my buck.

I don't want a money pit, but I am looking for something that I can do a little work on and upgrade.

What would you guys suggest and what's a reasonable price to pay?

Thanks guys!

well i guess it depends on your budget. i prefer the c5/6 for new technology but i still really like the c2/3 for looks as well

C4's are a bargain for what they are .C5's 2003 on up are very reliable .C6's maybe out of your budget .C3's are great but you might find they need constant work although easier to work on .

To get ideas on pricing look at Corvette trader on line or ebay as a guide .There is a corvette club up in your area with a great bunch of guys that would love to help you .

thanks!

Thanks so much. I didn't realize there was a corvette club here. Based on my research, the price and power output I think 95 C4 would be ideal? Any reason not to?

94 is a very good choice ,they had been in production long enough to get most of the gremlins out .Also C4's have some great performance mods available .

If there is anything in Maine you'd like me to look at let me know .A place called Corvette North ,Waterville Maine always has a good selection of clean stuff .

Again there are Clubs in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia that might help you locate something .

Oh ,thanks for joining us .This is the best Corvette forum I know of and I belong to a bunch .I'm also glad to see someone from the east coast come on board .Nice people from the west but they have a funny accent :D

People from the west have a funny accent?! Have you ever heard a Newfoundlander speak?! You are in for a treat my friend. YouTube it haha.

One of the things that turned me on to the corvette is just how easy it is to find performance parts. So I was contemplating pulling the original engine and modding a separate engine for fun fast times. I wouldn't want to mod the original engine I don't think.

First welcome to the forum.....
That is a real tough question you pose: It really depends on your budget and personal preference. As said before the C4's are selling at very good prices in my opinion. Also the later C3's can be had at a good price. The 95 you mention is a very good model...of course I am a bit bias to C4's. One thing is for sure......Buy the best condition car in your price range you can.
As said, there is a club out your way. not sure how far from you; but drop them a line and see what they have to say. Here is the address to their web site:

NL Corvette Club

Good luck in your hunt.

If you are going to yank the motor, get a mid 70's C3, their motors were not really rated very high on the HP scale, so no great loss. Easy to do since they are basically 60's technology. I picked up a sweet C4, handles far better than the C3, and can still do some basic upgrades. Glad I went that route, since I really like this car.

C4's definetly the best bang for the buck, the '96's had the best engine HP wise i'm told, enjoy the hunt and welcome to the forum

welcome !!! if you are a hands on guy that likes turning wrenches like me, alot can depend on your comfort level with technology. i like the old school stuff so my 76 is a good fit for me. if you are comfortable with computers and fuel injection etc, something more modern could be for you. :D doug.

Welcome to the forum FT! Lots of good advice. If you find something you are interested in, post it up and ask and we'll help you out the best we can. Wooooo! Must be exciting looking for your Corvette!

Its so exciting! It definitely looks like the late c4 gives me lots of HP at a good price and still that old school styling before they went all....roundy.

HAHA! Bulbous is exactly how they look to me. Sexy though! Like a chick with nice curves. But I like my girls a little more athletic. Firm in the right places and nice lines.

What do you drive range?
