If you could load up the Corvette and just go

I've had a few Corvette Road trips on the bucket lists crossed off, but 2 remain unchecked.
The PCH and old Route 66. My wife and me have done most everything from the Eastern provinces to Key West and back, with lot's of side trips in between.
The sad part is that we've never driven any state or province West of Ontario in Canada or Indianna /Georgia in the USA. Granted we have in other vehicles, but they don't count...it has to be in a vette to officially count as a pleasant road trip, especially true if in a C6.

It was great with Steamer in my C4 and he's done the trip both ways in his C6.
A most enjoyable trip for sure. I'd love to do it again.

OK, a dirty video!

and what I mean by dirty....... is there was tons of rain a week before and some of the roads were dirty.... had to be carefully. One road washed out big time. Got pictures.

this is in my 2006 LMB Z06

I stored the car in LA for a winter ( a few miles from LAX ) and flew down to drive it. Was super cool to be able to do. Get out of the cold and drive a Corvette.

Canyon roads near LA/Malibu

NOW, I kinda wanted more action in the video of driving so tried my hands at 11 and 1 instead of 9 and 3 - It kinda looked weird in the video.

First two min are blaw.

Frick it is annoyingly cold here.

OH, sorry to take the topic off topic with the Yellowstone thing, I just seen someone post something on Facebook about the activity when I read someone say they wanted to go through YNP

Brian

I never had time to do these roads with my ZR1 when I had it in Los Angeles... maybe that was good as that much power on a narrow road with big cliffs.... dangerous! :)

If I could.............

I would like to load the Z06, myself and Aidan and go off to Europe. Drive from Grand Prix to Grand Prix during the summer when Aidan is out of school and the crops have been seeded and sprayed, drive the Belgian GP course itself (yeah road courses!), Monaco and see about being able to drive a lap at LeMans (Mulsanne here I come!) and the Nurburgring.

Trouncing Euro-exotics with my Z06 for two months of the summer, my dream!

Cheers,

Garry

Beautiful drive Brian .... Nice to have the hwy all to yourself....... We can only dream of rides like that right about now......:(

Thanks for sharing the dream trips along with the ones actually taken.

Some great ideas and destinations. Garry's "European Vacation" would be quite an adventure.

Again great responses to warm up another cold wintery looking day. :driving:

That would be a great adventure for sure Murray.

Is it snowy and crap weather up there like it is down here?

Man this crap is getting hard to take.

Can't wait to get a crack at some of those adventures we talked about.

Colin, strangely enough we are not getting the snow Southern Ontario seems to be getting hit hard with today. It is cold and damp with very dark skies but so far no more white stuff.

Stay warm and keep dreaming of the garage door opening and the rumbling beast slowly rolling out into the light of day.

That's a good thing. You guys up there have had quite enough snow already this winter.

Hoping for an early spring so we can meet up.

-26, -23, -27, -28, -27, -27

What do these numbers have in common?

The forecast lows here in Alberta's Peace Country for the next 6 days!

Enough already...........

Cheers,

Garry

Yikes -- yes those numbers are familiar Garry --- that's not a good forecast at all.....Hope it warms up for you soon. I can well imagine that you've had enough of this winter too.

Keep the faith Garry -- Mother Nature will change things up sometime soon.:D

Storing a corvette in a warm climate actually makes good sense .

Yes, it kinda does.

Now, some insurance companies will do a 50% surcharge on your policy if the car is in the USA for more then 60 days.

Now, I bought my Z06 in Los Angeles so it was down there and kept it there for the winter and drove it up PCH in the spring to bring it home.

Then after a year sold the car here and then bought a ZR1 in Seattle and it was jan 3rd so instead of trailering it home to have it sit all winter.... I drove the car down the coast to LA then up to Las Vegas and stored the car in Vegas for the winter. then drove it home the next spring.

Now, I do have a D plate so that helps as you can't really just drive a car on the transit stickers you can get around the USA.

Both were awesome experiences ........ do some trips if you can.

My buddy has 65,000 km on his 2008 Z06 and he tries to drive down the coast every two years.... to N Cal for a road trip.

Been asked where I stored in Las Vegas

I stored it here. 24 hour access ( very rare )

they have Canadians who store cars and fly in at 11pm and need to get there car so they opened up to 24 hour access.

They were nice to deal with... even allowed me to double lock it as my car was expensive. The second lock is when they seize it.

My car barely fit..... if I was any fatter it would be hard to get out. But it worked.

My Corvette adventure would be Toronto to Chicago direct, then Route 66 as much as possible. Once in L.A., down the Pacific Coast Highway to San Diego with a side trip to Palm Springs. I'll need lots of money because I (and more importantly... my wife) want to be able to stop anytime the driving becomes too tiring and I/we need a day or two to recover or just see the sights.
