Hello Gents, is there any advantage/intelligence to changing oil within the first 2000 kms? Some say debris / metal flakes in the engine…? Thanks in advance. It’s my 8th vette but my first brand new one

I remember in the old days this was something that needed to be done for exactly the reason you mentioned, but everything I've heard for quite some time suggests that this is no longer the case. I used to do it within a short amount of mileage, but the last few vehicles we've bought new, including my 2019 C7, I've just gone with the factory recommendation. It helped with the C7 that GM gave us 4x free oil changes in the first 2 years...not sure if they do anything similar now.

Your filter takes care of your metal flakes but I would not go beyond recommendations , especially on your first oil change. I did mine at 4500 kms because after taking it out of storage the oil said 0%. GM says oil loses its viscosity and ability to do its job while sitting there.

Curious as to where you saw GM say that…..

Talk to your dealership or call conciergerie. Laugh if you want but if you get the right people and show them you want help , not just bullshit, you will get good help and info.

In a video with a C8 engineer he says it will lose some quality in storage. He never says how much and we know it's a tiny amount.
I stored it at 50% but by April the gauge will say 5% or 0%. Most of us know that is bull.... The thing is , while on warranty you have to respect their norms or...

I haven’t started my engine in about five weeks and the My Chevrolet app shows the exact same remaining oil life percentage for what ever that’s worth. You would think it would be based on not only time but also more to the point milage .

You'd hope. Maybe they changed it. It certainly should take mileage into account.

Maybe you need to start the car to update the oil/trans/tires...

Good point although the battery is in the vehicle and fully charged so it has satellite connectivity. Perhaps somebody can make up an explanation….could let some air out of a tire and see if it updates I suppose.
