Hello Gents, is there any advantage/intelligence to changing oil within the first 2000 kms? Some say debris / metal flakes in the engine…? Thanks in advance. It’s my 8th vette but my first brand new one
I remember in the old days this was something that needed to be done for exactly the reason you mentioned, but everything I've heard for quite some time suggests that this is no longer the case. I used to do it within a short amount of mileage, but the last few vehicles we've bought new, including my 2019 C7, I've just gone with the factory recommendation. Your filter takes care of your metal flakes but I would not go beyond recommendations , especially on your first oil change. I did mine at 4500 kms because after taking it out of storage the oil said 0%. Good point although the battery is in the vehicle and fully charged so it has satellite connectivity. Perhaps somebody can make up an explanation….could let some air out of a tire and see if it updates I suppose.Maybe you need to start the car to update the oil/trans/tires...
