yes keith, the country is the only place for me. when i came back here 22 years ago it was like having a giant boulder taken off me. even though some would consider where i live now to be remote, in the summer, it tends to get a little busy. the private road into my place is usually a sheet of ice 1 km long from dec. to april. in the summer things get kinda' busy with the golf course and the lake and almost all of my neighbours are seasonal. when the weather is good i like to get an early start on things that usually involve a lot of noise, so out of courtesy i wait until 8 am. no worries like that at the new place. i have frontage on 2 minor township roads and am surrounded by forest and horse farms. one of the farms is owned by my cousin and it is nice to have her as a neighbour. :D

Since their reintroduction into Southern Ontario, the wild turkeys have done very well. We see them all around our area as well. Going to Pontypool the other day, we saw two deer out in a field. Sort of makes an old guy's day when this happens. :)

Maybe I'm not paying enough attention, but I don't think I've seen any in my area... I'll have to look more closely.

some parts of the lot won't be affected by construction or machinery, so i have landscaped already. just about the whole thing was scrub, rocks, stumps and poison ivy. avoids having to do it later. the previous owner had been using the place as a makeshift junkyard as well [ not unusual in this part of the country ] so i had some work to do right out of the chute !!! fridges, stoves, scap wood and metal etc., 3 worthless old cars. alot of work but i was able to turn a $500. profit on all the crap and actually find some usable stuff too !!! there was a brand new weed whacker in the trunk of one of the cars !!! :D

Dale thinks your dog Josie is cute. Of course she is an animal lover. When you get your house done, you will love it there. Being on a township road has definite benefits.....like a little sand and salt by times along with a snow plow.

Not to mention, deer, bear, fox, coyotes (brush wolves) wolves, and perhaps the odd moose. Many years ago I saw a moose during the deer hunt out west of Crane Lake where our camp was. Where Doug lives just appears to be quiet until you sit still and look around. The wild life is amazing.

lots of wild life for sure. here at home i counted 38 wild turkeys in the yard one day. two years ago we had a cow moose swim by the lakefront, i've seen deer swim by on occasion, but that was the first moose. we normally see wolves and coyotes out on the ice in winter. we only saw one coyote this winter but we hear them yipping often up back though. i'm surprised i don't see black bears at the lot, i know they're there, and i've only ever seen bear poop there twice. there are apple trees at the lot and it's neat to watch the deer come by and have a feed. yes the country is the only place for me. :D
