We always regret breaking our own rules but because Canada we'll let one moderated thread in to discuss POLITICS and specifically the upcoming election.

Things that will get you a reply ban on this thread:
1. Personal attacks and name calling.
2. Cute memes that make you scratch your head and say hang on that's a bit racist
3. Conspiracy theories and fabbed news, send those to my interdimensional PO Box please
4. Any sort of severe swearing, just keep it inside for your close relatives.
5. Trolling as usual would be great on another forum but not here

Disagreements and discourse is always welcome but as always keep it civil.

Conservatives are showing good momentum closing the gap on the Liberals. I think people are finally starting to see Trudeau and his woke word salad speeches for what they really are: just posturing and virtue signalling while real issues go unaddressed. Currently, looks like a weakened Liberal minority.

... or Conservative minority.

Still wishing for his numbers to keep dropping. Be great to see them ousted. Protests should continue but please drop the vulgarity.
Wake up Canada, vote this incompetent Government out!

Doesn't matter who gets the nod, they are all tarred with the same brush...all out for themselves and their buddies and forget about the little guy after the votes are counted.
Yes you are right, but JT the inept silver spoon boy, has to go. Dumb and getting dumber, not interested in monetary policies, so obvious as he spend us into oblivion. wake up Canada, Vite them out.

I don’t remember any PM calling an election just 2 years into his term. I hope this bites him in the arse! He has had too many unsavory things that have come and gone with little or no consequence. Time for a reboot.
...
There was always the one who promised not to call an election within the 4 years... then did.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/early-election-call-won-t-break-any-promises-harper-1.719006

also...
Usually, minority governments last well under 2 years.

I present a fact or two. No bias included.
Fact... Conservatives introduced a law that elections would be only every 4 years. Fact... Harper called an election a year ahead of the fixed date he had proclaimed (called it after just over 2 1/2 years).
Fact... 9 of the 14 minority governments called an election within 2 years. Only1 of the 14 made it into the 3rd year.

I just wanted to point out to Dale that it is a fairly common thing. Not a single minority government ran full term.

Sheesh! I did not realize or remember that. I sort of remember the Harper one, but I thought that was after a non confidence vote from the other parties that caused the early election (I may also be mistaken on that, as my memory is not all that accurate anymore)

The main thing, is to dump this inept, incompetent, BS'n PM, not capable, then, now and never.
WAKE UP CANADA, VOTE HIM AND HIS PARTY OUT!

Agree. Trudeau has done so much damage to Canada's finances that it's going to take generations to get to where we were prior to him being PM. He has zero concept of fiscal management or accountability. This is what happens when someone without formal experience and/or knowledge is put in a position based on a family name. His ministers aren't much better as most of them are in positions (unqualified) that fulfill Trudeau's warped mandate. Trudeau must go.

... in staying to this off topic, topic ...

I thought about saying something about the cheap money that one can borrow
for a Corvette (perhaps making this good for the CCF). Banks are winning - I am invested.
I have to realize another off topic, topic though ...

Political Platform(s) that are primarily advocating climate change by merely corking an industry
for the purpose resulting in significantly increasing demand on another can be related
to "relieving oneself" into the wind at this point in our time. We have been given a new tax on
something as a measure for using it less, yet without acceptable and well supplied alternative(s).

Who has not already heard ...
"Please do not use (turn off) high demand electrical appliances during peak times"?
If not ... see it coming ...
Just wait until personal use vehicles are added to the demand for electricity ...
never mind the even higher costs that people will will be ultimately screaming about on electric bills.
It is a good cause but it is being driven on soapboxes for the mere purpose of "a vote"
in my opinion. All words for a goal without all-round and meaningful convenience(s).

A "well-known fella" who discussed concerns in the past for a global pandemic,
now has my full attention and now discussing concern toward the demand that our
future will have on the supply of electricity. I can take his words and speculate for investing
in the Industry - which I most likely will, however It does drive home concern.
Hence why I seriously realized my hypocrisy, of which I am not an advocate,
for installing a fuel-burning back-up generator in a new home as a
mere "bomb-shelter" approach for selfishly lessening the speculative inconvenience that
results from electricity grid loss (weather and etc).

Sadly for Canadians, right here and right now, this "well-known fella"
is NOT running for Prime Minister. I know who I will NOT to vote for BUT
I also do not know who to vote for ........ yet. I cannot fix what is broken
without the right tools. Trying to learn for the past with AB merely changing to NDP,
without knowing and then changed back again, without knowing.
The Fed PC is starting to gain my ear ... we will see how this goes ...

... perhaps a lot of investments in electricity by Forum Members

Gee... We have an "off topic" area in the forum.... Who'd a known.... No one forces any members to click on and read any of the subjects in the off topic area so feel free to disregard if that is your choice.

Now.... Back to the off-topic .... I agree. with most of the above.... Do I expect a conservative government to be the angels of government ....No.... But I'm more than prepared to give O'toole a shot at being better that JT, and to be honest, he doesn't have to be much good to meet that plateau. JT is likely a nice guy but his head is in a dark place on many levels and on most of the other, he appears to think he can pretty much do anything he wants, regardless of the rest of Canada thinks or how often he gets caught with his pants down. This much is evident by several things that we have watched come down the pipes during his reign.

SNC Lavalin #1.... Breach of ethics law which should really have seen him tossed out of government..;

WE scandal... It wasn't me... Civil service awarded that contract without my knowledge...errr.... My finance minister is at fault too... No Trudeau personal monetary gain... well other than a 1/4 mil for my mother... and personal appearance payments for the rest of my family.....;

The Firearms ban... Pushed by TO committees and instantly turned into a bill by JT's royal assent and instantly turning law abiding and licensed firearms owners into criminal... oh yeah... they tossed in a last minute amnesty until next April for owners that are in legal possession... I could likely have been calmer if anyone who knew one end of a firearm from the other had been involved in the ever growing list of JT's list of "weapons of mass destruction".. but when my single shot 12 ga shotgun and my mother's hand me down semi auto 22 caliber hit the list, I just shake my head in disbelief;

SNC Lavalin #2.... JT - Build Canada five mobile health units that nobody requested or recommended and have never been used since for 150 mil.....

The list goes on but I've ranted enough. Suffice to say that deep down JT may not be any worse that anyone else in politics but really, how many times can you look like an idiot before you learn how to actually hide the stupid things you do..... Nuff said... for now....lol..

Justin Trudeau...where to begin? I was a fan of the guy when he first ran...within a year of his election I was contributing $ to the PC Party of Canada.

There are simply not enough negative adjectives in the english language to encapsulate his ineptutude.

The latest...ban ICE sales by 2035. I look forward to owning an EV in a few years and I love my sons Model 3 performance but this guy does not have a clue of the actual reality of this statement, from Cdn deep cold inefficiency to the complete absence of any short or medium term Canadian electric power grid infrastructure plan to come even close to accomodating such a moronic political promise. Just more pretty boy verbal porridge to appease his naive liberal base.

Oh, and thanks Justin for the 5 new pot shops in my small Ontario town...really classes up the place. Quite the legacy you will be remembered for . Poppa would be so proud.
