engine weight

can anyone tell me what an LS engine weighs? considering an LS swap into my '58 willys, cj5. at least thats what my son thinks it needs

I second that is what your willy's needs!

Hot Rod mag says 430 lbs for an LS1 and GMPP lists the LS3 at 415 lbs.

That weight sounds about right for the LS. A LQ4 (iron block version) would be about 520 lbs. An all iron 350 would be near 520 as well. A 350 with Aluminum heads and intake would compare at about 475 lbs.

Here is a list of engine weights. Doesn't list the LS Series though.

Engine Weight FYI

A bare 350 block is about 180 lbs.
A Bare LS block is about 90 lbs.
