Elections Canada - Please Read post Number 1

Well. April 28th we go to the polls to elect a Federal Government. No surprise there. Get while the getting is good, and tied in the polls, after being down 20 points 3 short months ago. Amazing the power the USA has over our politics because without Trump and his mindless partners and their threats, the Libs would still be scrambling, and even Carney the Great One wouldn't have made this much difference.
He's likely a very smart man and he's saying all the things that the people want to hear. But so did Trudeau, and every other politician before him Lib, PC, or NDP.
But it's still the Liberal party, who for 10 years got away with unprofessional ethics, multiple scandals, and total wastes of taxpayers dollars in no ones interests but their own, and zero repercussions.
A new liberal hairdo isn't really a change and right or wrong, we need to give change a chance.

And then we have Pierre P. Smart, but not the smooth, polished picture we are use to, and maybe no better than we have put up with and bitched about for the last 10 years. But, like bread on the table, things get stale after a while, and the Liberals are stale and need to be tossed aside for a fresher alternative.
So. Our choices next month are very few. The evil we know or the chance that, for 4 years, maybe we can do better. I can't believe we could do much worse.

Nick Nanos said yesterday that it’s going to be like a knife fight in a phone booth. I’ve got a feeling he’s right about that. It’s going to be knock down drag out . Although supposedly the polling firms are non partisan I’m not totally convinced about that. Depends on who has commissioned the survey and how the questions are framed. Seems to be a wee bit of left leaning bias as of late. We’re going to find out April 28 . After the performance of our government over the past 9 years I as well feel that a change may well be preferable to the status quo . Let us hope that there is a sizeable turnout at the polls . Last election only 62.5% of eligible voters checked a box.

Well. I've said it before that P.P. is a small "t" Trump.
You just had to listen to him spouting the catch phrases since a few years.
JT's time and allure were/was past. After all, IMO, he rode in on his father's coast tails.
Interesting this morning in that DS is spouting her politics trying to coax her believers in to voting the "right" way. If MC were to win I am sure he would be most beholding to her for picking sides and acquiesce to all her desires.
Not a P.P fan but he were to be our PM then hopefully he will have policies that everyone can support.

Somewhat related to the change for changes sake option.
Here in La Belle Province the previous government (Liberal) ran a tight ship and good budgets. Economy was excellent.
The electorate decided it was time for a change, not because the LIbs were doing a bad jib. Even the CAQ said the balance sheet was excellent when they assumed power. Now we have deficits galore and more administration then before.
So change for changes sake is not necessarily the be all and end all.
Sometimes it is better to listen to who makes sense and who has the political jangle phrases

PP is a narcissist also. Just look at his commercial in his undershirt trying to show how muscular he is. The Cons continue to vote leaders who are identical. Change for change sake is not good. I still wish one of the Mulroney's had run / won. Much better individuals IMO.

Got to say Carney was a godsend for the Libs, technocrat, huge resume, no political experience, well spoken. I had no plans to vote Libs and I realise the leader doth not make the party but he's miles ahead of the PC lad on optics at least. IMHO. Choices are pretty dire.

Don't know, I will need to zoom in on this one.

I agree that Carney’s optics are a cut above PP, but his French is marginal and may I remind everyone that April 28 is not a beauty contest. The point I would like to make is that Carney’s (horribly Left) obsession with “green” and the net zero 2035/2050 GHG targets are going to be a disaster for Canada. He is very covert about his true nature here (be warned) with plans to accelerate taxes (mostly corporate) and a disinterest in policy that would ultimately support our country’s prosperity. Tell me how that will defend Canadian sovereignty and promote wealth & prosperity. Don’t get me started on the ill-conceived childish policy that all of the Fed parties support in retaliatory “t!t for tat” import tariffs on a myriad of US goods including collector vehicles. In the absence of much lower taxes (I know I will probably get a ZR1 allocation before that happens) retaliating tariffs will cost us all by raising our cost of living, expanding the deficit and eventually hitting the bottom line on our national debt. I am all for “elbows up” boys & girls but please please not when the self imposed hits are to ourselves!

Change should be for a reason for sure. And it does seem there are several avaliable but as others have pondered many times are you better off with the devil you know ? One problem is that with such a short campaign of only five weeks will voters have time to digest all of the promises ? We won't know whether the electorate has chosen wisley , regardless of who wins , until several months or more after the dust settles . Here's hoping we get lucky .

It's not digesting the promises,, it's sifting through the crap.
How much will they promise us in tax savings, etc, etc.
The one that promises the most tax savings is probably not the better one as they probably don't have a handle on what is going on.
Now if they want to promise us cheaper eggs and lower inflation maybe that is something we should consider. LOL

Well stated, 10 years of baggage is simply too much.

If it was a new batch maybe but MC has surrounded himself with JT's crew from the last 10 years which really hasn't done anything for our economy except run up debt and hire public servants. Just looking for a change myself and can't believe it would be worse than what we have had.

Mark Carney was an advisor to Trudeau. He was not an elected official. Who knows if Trudeau took his advice.

LMAO... Holy $hit....I guess I've been wearing undershirts for many years and never realized it. I guess that makes me narcissistic too. I actually thought undershirts were the wife beater style. I wear those when I show off how muscular I still am at 70.
Mulroney.... Now that's a joke....

I take it you didn't like Brian?
And my point was he was trying to show off his body. Why?
