Just curious about yesterday's Ontario provincial election. Here in Alberta, we have Conservatives and NDP. None of the rest count. There is a defined split in the demographic with our urban population predominantly NDP and our rural totally Conservative (especially after the NDP fiasco we had with them in power 8 years ago). And by urban I'm referring to Calgary and Edmonton. Our other cities only have a smattering of NDP supporters.

So my question is: In Ontario are most of your Ford supporters urban or rural?

The Conservatives got over 5 times as many votes as the Liberals. 80 vs ……….wait for it……..14 . Wow .

Of course it’s seats that count in the end. But yes as a lot of politicians say , l misspoke, lol . I could be wrong, again, but I don’t believe that the Liberals got the most votes in the last three federal elections. Although in this election the Tories got approximately 50% more than the Liberals .

I'd give him a call, but he gives everyone his cell number, except everyone in Ontario. He won't even surrender his cell phone for scrutiny of wrongdoing.
For those outside the province, He claims he gives everyone his cell number. He uses his personal cell phone for official business.
Very shady! Especially if you stand in his shadow. ;)

Funny thing is I don't disagree with the Cons. If Caroline Mulroney had been elected as the leader I'd vote for her. She's a smart cookie. Trouble is the people they keep electing to lead the party. Cut out of the same mold. All have personal opinions that don't align with popular Canadian values.
Harper, Scheer, O'toole and now Poilievre.
 
So. Will Carney call an election before Parliament resumes? My opinion is he would be a fool not to as the Libs, for all due purpose, are tied at the moment in the polls. It would be hit or miss if he waits until later as it may or may not get better for the Liberals. There are a lot of factors in play. One in particular is what Quebec will do. The Quebec people are 77% in favor now of a pipeline from Alberta as they rely on the pipeline that comes through the US. But that being said, the Bloc are still kyboshing it. Here's what Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-Francois Blanchet is still saying:

“We are fiercely opposed to any type of transport on Quebec territory of hydrocarbons from Western Canada to any market whatsoever. It does not serve Quebec.”

So... I guess the rest of Canada and interprovincial trade and supply isn't big on the Bloc's agenda, even though the rest of Canada and Quebec want it. Now. What will this do to the Bloc's popularity come election time? Wii the PC or the Libs take control in Quebec or will the rest of Canada just say FkU, redraw Quebec's border, and build us a pipeline anyway? Time will tell....

Kind of hypocritical on the PQ's part as well as the CAQ.
My son was working on a pipeline project (TCP) not far from here just two years ago. That one comes up from Maine and they were upping the pressure so needed to make some modifications to the existing system including a new pumping station.
Can also bring you to an existing line coming in from Ontario just to the west of Montreal.
So to thump their chests for the "green" community and say no pipelines is, to say the least, a tad melodramatic. But what the hell, they are politicians playing to whoever will lend them an ear.
Not sure but I would bet that the line coming in from Ontario ties in to Enbridge Line 5 that unfortunately goes through the States.
Nothing would be better than running a line over Lake Superior so that it stays in Canada and continuing on to the south shore some place around Quebec City or past it for exports. Big refinery just across from Quebec City that uses all imported oil.
So, we can see that the politicians are all basically hypocritical talking about not wanting any pipelines here.
As to the PQ wanting to separate from Canada you should hope it never happens even if you have a great dislike for our frothy politics here. IMHO, without QC there will be no Canada and without Canada there is no Quebec, just anther northern Louisiana. The people who think otherwise are wearing blinders.
Together we stand, divided we are part of Trump's folly.

Cut the Bloc a big enough check or other monetary concessions and that opposition will become “ because it’s in the National interest we will begrudgingly accept a pipeline “.

National interest ? What's that? Translate to French for me please... :angelic: What would work is threatening to cut Quebec's equalization payments as they are definitely not a 'lessor fiscal capacity' province. They suck 14 billion each year out of the 23 billion that is allocated for equalization. 4 provinces receive nothing. BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland. Quebec might care a little more about a pipeline if the US cut off their gas supply. JMO
