Just got my 3 year DCT fluid changed. There is another filter inside the tranny. That was also replaced. Good thing I bought the prepaid maintenance.

I believe the internal pan filter replacement is not part of the required 3 year DCT fluid replacement procedure. Nice to have maybe, but the pan filter is not nomally changed unless some internal maintenance or fix was done, or you hit 100k km/8 years or something like that.
Take this with a tiny grain of salt, but according to Rick Conti's tech it is. It was replaced by the dealer who has done this before. Not many though, I'm sure.

What would the cost have been otherwise ?
If you have to ask .... ;)
Since the DCT canister filter was 800$ I can only guess it would be a lot! He was going to give me a cost, but I told him I had the "Essential service plan" so he didn't bother quoting me. Since I have 4 years on the plan I'll get another change in 3 years. Thanks GM! Great deal!

Never having had it done obviously I wasn’t sure of the cost. Many opinions regarding that as usual. I think I am going to purchase it as well as it will pay for itself easily. Kinda sucks that the “ free “ one has to be done within 24 months regardless of mileage. So I will be having it done twice in the first 24 months paying for one of them. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing, can’t hurt except for the wallet.

It's not a hard line. I had mine done at 10,000 kms. You may do 5k per year.

I had my complimentary oil change and dct filter change done at 11,500 km ( its 12000 km ( + or - 800 km.). I will do the final free gm oil change this Nov. my 2 year anniversary. I am purchasing the 84mos/60,000km essential maintenance plan very shortly. My local dealer Searles in Ingersoll has price matched the best price out there.

According to GM the dealer has done a number of them same situation, The 12000 km requirement is just replacing the DCT filter. You can save a few $ if you are at 12000 km +- 800 km. The 800 km + or - is a known fact.

According to who?
This is a excerpt from GM-Techlink web site ↓

Changing the canister filter at 7,500 miles (12,000 km) has been identified by Engineering as the period when the most contaminants may be created due to the break-in of the transmission components. Engineering recommends that the filter be changed as close to 7,500 miles (12,000 km) as possible – plus/minus 1,000 miles (1,600 km) should not be detrimental.

If a transmission is replaced, it should be treated the same as the new vehicle break-in period. The canister filter maintenance should restart as if it was a new vehicle, with the next filter change at 7,500 miles (12,000 km) after transmission replacement.

TIP: Filter change information should be shared with your service advisors and service management. GM will be reviewing maintenance records on transmission warranty claims. Lack of maintenance on the canister filter cartridge may affect warranty coverage.

I was recently told by Wilson Niblett +/- 800Km. How does one get an official copy of above from GM-Techlink?
