DCT transmission Fluid and filter replacement

I see you are from Québec. Do you know a site where I can get information about Corvette events , in Québec.

I sometime go to this car meet, but its for older cars...

We get that in Marieville. A meet in Montreal !!!!! Outside of the city but in Montreal :Ack2: :Arghh: There was one in Rawdon last Saturday but I did not know.

Outside of Montreal is even better... always looking to meet C8 owners... since none of my families or friends owns a corvette... I am the black sheep.

The DCT fluid monitor appears to only take mileage into account, and not time. Stupid oversight on GMs part. But 3 years is a requirement as documented in the owners manual.

There's no need to change the DCT filter at the same time as the fluid. The filter change is mileage based only, so only change the filter if you're close to that interval.

Draining and filling the DCT uses the fill port on the side of the DCT. Adding two liters uses the fill port on top, and requires a lot of disassembly and reassembly, and a lot of extra cost. Doing it at the same time as the standard drain and fill won't save you any money.

Hmm, my statement above raises a question. Do metric countries (or at least Canada) still use the term "mileage" to refer to non-specific distance related items? You would say, for example, my car has 120,000 KMs on it, but I don't think it would be described as a "high kilometerage" car, would it? Would you describe it as "high mileage," even though you don't use miles as a measurement?

Idle curiosity from a yank who wishes Americans weren't too stubborn to use the metric system.

Personally I say "mileage" or "alot of k's" on it.

I have grown up with both measurement standards and can easily flip between the two, but you will find that most of the fasteners on American cars are metric.
Even my 1999 Viper was 85-90% metric when it came to fasteners and bolts that I had to come in contact with.

By removing the trunk liner you can access the fill plug for the transmission which is where the extra 2 litres of fluid would be added for track use . Maybe a dozen screws to remove.
Maximus74 " In total 10 litres of oil was put in the transmission." When mine was done the mechanic put in 12 litres . After reading this it must of been the standard !0 litres plus the extra 2 litres for track use ? I do remember the service representative mentioning to me that the car took 2 more litres of transmission fluid than he originally quoted.

Thank-you JCWP, my fault since I do know better. Litres and quarts are not exactly equals in volume. I was charged for 12 quarts. I live in Canada but this service was done in the USA.
No problem. Why did you have to change trany fluid?

Car is a 2022 but was delivered in 2021. The Dealer in the US keyed it up as a 3 year service. I could have waited till I arrived home but that would have been 6 to 8,000 KMs of milage in a short period of time. San Francisco to Halifax and places in between. Plus in my area in two years I might of seen 4 other C8's. I was not exactly confident in the local dealer but it turns out the owner of the dealership had a 2024 Z06. In San Francisco I actually saw a full trailer of C8's which is more C8's than what i've seen in my whole life lol

At 12,000 km or approx. 7500 miles you have to do DCT service which requires new cannister and a bit of top up ay a cost of approx. $750.00 not a full service including replacing all the transmission oil. Your first service is free. What am I missing? Where do you live?

Every three years.

The transmission fluid change is recommended at 3 years or 45,000 miles which is 72,000 km. Prior to that the DCT at 12,000 km and 36,000 km. It is also recommended that you monitor the transmission fluid life percentage and change when indicated. A $21,000 part is well worth taking care of and if you were almost at 3 years and going on a 5,000 mile drive, better to over service than under service.

Mine is a 2022 which I took delivery of in Oct. 2021 is now three years old and no where near 45K miles. I had the free service last Oct. after two years (use it or lose it) as a free be even though I had only 9,000 km on it , but, was told that I would have to get it done again this year at 12,000 and pay for it - $750.00. Last year involved replacing cannister and a bit of top of of oil. So, this year I have to get a complete transmission service with filter and brand new oil - approx. 11 liters? What is the cost for that? In any case, I had an accident recently: on a cruise ran over a rock - a jagged one at that - tore all the panels under the car, hit the transmission oil pan and caused a leak; so, big insurance claim: new panels - all three, new oil pan ( new and improved one), new filter and oil replacement. What a nightmare.
