I would not say that you were screwed. I would say that you went to a large high profile "vette specialist" dealer that while they may have the biggest allocation number, they also have the biggest line up of past and loyal Customers ahead of you. I have no doubt that they had a deposit line up for years and also a huge influx from July 2019 after the reveal of the C8 when everyone saw it for the first time and pricing was announced. When you put your deposit down, it was before the strike and before the COVID shutdown and the dealership likely expected to get allocations based on what they sold in 2019. If this was a big number then they expected a big number of allocations in 2020. I have no doubt that they have had their allocations cut significantly and you are simply down the list. It sucks and its frustrating for those still waiting for their cars but not sure you should direct the anger to the dealer or salesman. The landscape changed mid course for them. Some of the smaller dealers or just less invested in the vette still get allocations based on past performance of sales and may have had smaller lineups. Such was my case. I knew exactly where I fell in the line and what the dealer was getting in cars. I was fortunate to have my order get picked up in January 2020 as a firm order in their second wave of 6 cars. If your Dealer cannot tell you EXACTLY how many orders are on the list ahead of you and also how many cars they are expecting, then that is a problem. That should not happen and if that was my case, I would move on to another dealer.
